  • Rays' Jadher Areinamo: Returns to health at Double-A

Areinamo (hamstring) has gone 4-for-18 with two home runs and three RBI in four games since being activated from Double-A Montgomery's 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Areinamo didn't see much action during spring training before suffering a hamstring injury in late February, but he's put on a power display since being cleared to make his 2026 debut for Montgomery. He's already halfway to his home-run total from last season at Double-A, as Areinamo slugged four long balls in 37 games for Montgomery following his acquisition from the Brewers last July.

  • Addison Barger SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Progressing in recovery

Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Monday that Barger (ankles) will start running Tuesday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Barger continues to progress in his recovery from sprained left and right ankles, and he has done enough to be cleared to start running. He may not need to embark on a rehab assignment and could be back with the Blue Jays for the start of their homestand Friday against the Guardians.

  • Leonardo Rivas SS | SEA

Mariners' Leo Rivas: Filling in for injured Donovan

Rivas will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Athletics.

Rivas will cover the hot corner for the third game in a row and could be in line for a regular starting role for at least the next week after Seattle placed Brendan Donovan (groin) on the 10-day injured list Monday. The 28-year-old hasn't provided much reason to get excited about his fantasy prospects; over 61 plate appearances on the season, he's hit just .143 with no home runs, no stolen bases, four runs and four RBI.

  • Colt Emerson SS | SEA

Mariners' Colt Emerson: Nursing wrist injury at Triple-A

The Mariners declined to recall Emerson from Triple-A Tacoma to take Brendan Donovan's (groin) roster spot in part because Emerson has been dealing with a wrist injury, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Emerson homered in his last game for Tacoma on Saturday but did not play in Sunday's contest. It's unclear if the top prospect will miss any additional time. The timing of the injury is unfortunate, although the Mariners might have decided against promoting Emerson even if he was healthy, as Donovan's absence is not expected to last long. Signed to an eight-year, $95 million contract extension in late March, Emerson is slashing .258/.361/.452 with two homers and six stolen bases in his first 73 plate appearances with Tacoma. The 20-year-old has a good chance to make his major-league debut in the first half, but for now he'll focus on getting healthy and returning to the Rainiers' lineup.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Returning to Norfolk for rehab

Holliday (wrist) will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Holliday's rehab assignment was paused due to mild wrist soreness, but he was cleared to return to action with High-A Frederick over the weekend, when he went 2-for-8 with an RBI and a run scored. Holliday has already appeared in 13 minor-league games as part of his ongoing rehab assignment but could be cleared for major-league play by late April.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Takes part in running workout

Astros manager Joe Espada said that Pena (hamstring) did some running Monday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Pena was cleared to run for the first time since he landed on the 10-day injured list a week ago with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. The shortstop is eligible to return from the IL on Friday, but it's possible the Astros will ask him to go out on a rehab assignment before being activated. Carlos Correa has served as the team's primary shortstop since Pena went down, with Isaac Paredes handling third base.

  • Will Wilson SS | SEA

Mariners' Will Wilson: Receives call-up to majors

The Mariners selected Wilson's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Wilson will join the big-league roster as a replacement for Brendan Donovan (groin), who was moved to the 10-day injured list. Leo Rivas had started at third base in both of the Mariners' last two games and will likely serve as Donovan's primary replacement at the position, leaving Wilson in line to fill the utility role that Rivas had previously handled. The 27-year-old Wilson saw big-league action in 34 games with Cleveland last season, slashing .192/.267/.244 with no home runs and two stolen bases over 91 plate appearances.

  • Maximo Acosta SS | MIA

Marlins' Maximo Acosta: Activated and optioned

The Marlins activated Acosta (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville.

A left oblique strain delayed Acosta's start to the season. He's now recovered and has played three rehab games, but the Marlins have elected to keep him at Jacksonville where he can play every day.

  • Nick Allen SS | HOU

Astros' Nick Allen: Shut down with back spasms

The Astros placed Allen (back) on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Allen had been scheduled to start at shortstop in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Cardinals before being scratched from the lineup shortly before first pitch when he developed back spasms. The 27-year-old apparently didn't show meaningful improvement after resting up over the last couple of days, so Houston will keep him on the shelf for at least its entire seven-game week to give him extra time off to recover. The Astros called up Braden Shewmake from Triple-A Sugar Land to replace Allen as a utility infielder.

  • Astros' Braden Shewmake: Called up to majors

The Astros selected Shewmake's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday.

Just one day after acquiring Shewmake in a trade with the Yankees, the Astros will elevate the 28-year-old to the big-league roster to provide added depth in the infield while Jeremy Pena (hamstring) and Nick Allen (back) are on the shelf. Shewmake last saw big-league action in 2024 with the White Sox, appearing in 29 games while batting just .125/.134/.203 with one home run and five stolen bases over 67 plate appearances.
