Seager (hamstring) was scratched from Thursday's lineup as a precaution, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Manager Bruce Bochy disclosed that Seager experienced tightness in his hamstring while warming up for Thursday's game, and it's not a surprise the club played it safe after the shortstop recently missed four games due to a hamstring issue. Bochy also noted that Seager is likely to be back in the lineup Friday against the Mariners.

Cruz went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.

The 25-year-old shortstop tied up the game with a two-run single off Lance Lynn in the fifth inning, but that finished the scoring for Pittsburgh. Cruz now has eight RBI over his last seven games, and his batting average in June is a solid .286. He will carry a .248/.300/.432 slash line with nine home runs and 28 RBI into a weekend series at Colorado.

Seager was scratched from the Rangers' lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Dodgers for undisclosed reasons, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Seager returned to the lineup Wednesday after missing four games with a hamstring issue, and it's possible he aggravated that injury while going 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk. Travis Jankowski will step in as Texas' designated hitter, with Josh Smith starting at shortstop.

Perdomo isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Perdomo has gone 3-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored in two games since returning from the injured list. He'll get a breather Thursday against Griffin Canning and the Angels while Kevin Newman starts at shortstop, batting ninth.

Swanson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Tampa Bay.

It looks to be a simple day of rest for Swanson, who had started each of the previous 20 contests. Nico Hoerner will shift over to shortstop and Michael Busch will handle second base for the Cubs.

Schuemann is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Minnesota.

Schuemann wore the golden sombrero in Wednesday's loss to the Padres, so he will be given the day off Thursday to regroup. Aledmys Diaz will draw the start at shortstop.

The Mariners optioned Rivas to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.

Rivas was brought up from the minors Monday to serve as temporary depth while Dylan Moore was away on paternity leave. Now that Moore has returned, Rivas will head back to Triple-A, where he's slashed .255/.386/.353 across 130 plate appearances.

The Mariners reinstated Moore (personal) from the paternity list Thursday.

Moore has been away from the team since Monday to spend time with his family, and he will now return to the Mariners ahead of Thursday's series finale against the White Sox. The 31-year-old has slashed .160/.233/.200 with two RBI and five runs scored since the beginning of June.

Montgomery is slashing .222/.335/.370 with seven home runs, four steals and a 28.2 percent strikeout rate in 57 games for Triple-A Charlotte.

At 22 years old, Montgomery is at an appropriate level of the minors, and his performance thus far is backed up by a mediocre 23.2 percent hard-hit rate and a poor 66.7 percent contact rate. The White Sox probably would have promoted Montgomery to the majors earlier this season if he looked ready, but at this point there's little incentive for them to bring him up until late August so that he can preserve his rookie eligibility heading into 2025.

Holliday is hitting .182 with one home run, one steal, 12 walks and 12 strikeouts in 10 June games for Triple-A Norfolk.

Holliday is slashing .238/.407/.415 with five home runs, four steals, a 22.2 percent walk rate and a 24.3 percent strikeout rate in 40 games since being optioned to Triple-A on April 26. The Orioles could summon the 20-year-old middle infielder at any point, but his return to the big leagues in the coming weeks is more of a possibility than an inevitability. Due to the fact Holliday spent 16 days on the active roster in April, Baltimore would need to keep him in the minors until Sept. 1 while limiting him to 130 or fewer total at-bats in order to preserve his rookie eligibility heading into 2025.
