  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Braves' Orlando Arcia: To be re-evaluated in 10-14 days

Arcia (wrist) will be re-evaluated in 10-14 days, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

There's no firm timeline for his return, but Atlanta will assess his progress in a couple weeks. Bowman notes that Nick Castellanos spent 16 days on the injured list with a similar microfracture in 2021, but his injury was to his top hand (on the bat), while Arcia's injury is to his lower hand. Vaughn Grissom is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh Friday against the Royals.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Back in lineup Friday

Swanson (side) is back in the lineup Friday versus the Dodgers.

Swanson sat out of Wednesday's series finale against the Mariners due to a side issue, but it doesn't appear to have been anything serious. He is at shortstop and batting second Friday for the Cubs.

  • Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: In starting lineup Friday

Rojas (hamstring) is in the lineup Friday against the Cubs.

Rojas made an early exit from Wednesay's series finale against the Giants due to a cramp in his left hamstring, but all is well following Thursday's scheduled team off day. He'll start at shortstop and bat seventh versus the Cubs and lefty Justin Steele.

  • Nick Allen SS | HOU

Athletics' Nick Allen: Optioned to Las Vegas

Allen was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

After starting just 1-for-16 at the plate through his first eight games, Allen will return to the minors to right himself. The 24-year-old shortstop slashed .266/.371/.358 over 206 plate appearances in Triple-A last season. Tyler Wade was selected from Las Vegas on Friday in a corresponding move.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: Begins baseball activity

Wendle (intercostal) hit off a tee and did defensive drills Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Wendle is back to doing baseball activities after a week-long shutdown for a right intercostal strain. He is eligible to be activated off the 10-day IL at any time, but it probably won't happen for several more days as he tests the muscle and rounds back into form. Jon Berti has been serving as the Marlins' primary shortstop in Wendle's absence.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Trending toward late April return

Anderson (knee) is tracking toward a return closer to the early side of his projected 2-4 week recovery timeline, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Anderson will be away from the White Sox for a couple days to tend to a personal matter, but his progress from a sprained left knee appears to be coming along well. April 27 is the beginning of a homestand for the White Sox and would be just after the two-week mark of Anderson's absence, so perhaps that's a date for the shortstop to shoot for.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Out of lineup Friday

Mateo isn't in Baltimore's lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

After going 3-for-13 with three RBI and two steals in the Orioles' last series against Oakland, Mateo will get an off day in Friday's series opener with Chicago. In his absence, Gunnar Henderson will start at shortstop, Anthony Santander (back) will serve as DH and Terrin Vavra will get a start in right field.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Sitting against lefty

Perdomo is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Marlins.

Nick Ahmed will handle shortstop duties and bat seventh with left-hander Trevor Rogers getting the start for Miami. Perdomo, a switch hitter, should continue to cover short mainly against righties.

  • Vaughn Grissom 1B | LAA

Braves' Vaughn Grissom: Starting at shortstop Friday

Grissom is starting at shortstop and batting seventh Friday at Kansas City.

Grissom was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday morning and has an opportunity to take over as Atlanta's everyday shortstop with Orlando Arcia (wrist) hitting the injured list in a corresponding move. Grissom was off to a tremendous start this season in the International League, slashing .366/.458/.585 with one home run and two stolen bases through 10 games. The 22-year-old offers category-spanning fantasy upside.

  • Wenceel Perez RF | DET

Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Reinstated, moved to Double-A

Perez (back) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Friday and transferred from Triple-A Toledo to Double-A Erie, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.

Perez has had very little trouble against minor-league pitching in his career thus far, slashing .307/.374/.533 over 171 plate appearances in Double-A last season. If he can carry that success into 2023, there's a good chance he makes his Triple-A debut at some point this summer.
