Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Smith will hit the bench after starting three straight contests in right field. Jesus Sanchez will handle right field Sunday while Taylor Trammell gets the nod in left.

Carlson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Carlson will head to the bench after starting five straight games and going 7-for-16 with two home runs, one triple, three walks, four RBI and four runs during that stretch. With Colton Cowser (concussion) returning from the injured list Sunday and Dylan Beavers likely to get an extended audition as an everyday player, Carlson may have to compete with Jeremiah Jackson for regular at-bats at the other spot in the Baltimore outfield. Both Carlson and Jackson may be at risk of losing out on opportunities once Tyler O'Neill (wrist) returns from the IL, however.

Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Mountcastle started all eight games since coming off the injured list last week and has slugged two home runs and has posted a .851 OPS, but he'll take a seat for the series finale in Houston. Coby Mayo will continue to man first base for Baltimore, while top prospect Samuel Basallo is making his MLB debut at designated hitter.

Walker is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

It's a rare off day for Walker, who started the previous 30 games after spending a few days on the paternity list in early July. The first baseman is batting just .216 (11-for-51) in August but has four doubles, three homers and a 9:14 BB:K.

Torres is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Torres will get his first day off since Aug. 5 in what appears to be a routine maintenance day. Zach McKinstry will cover second base in Torres' stead.

Dingler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Dingler will retreat to the bench after three straight starts. Jake Rogers will handle catching duties for Detroit on Sunday.

Volpe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in St. Louis.

The day off ends a run of 46 consecutive starts for Volpe, who has gone 3-for-26 (.115 average) with a double and a homer in the past seven games. Jose Caballero will step in at shortstop and bat ninth for the series finale against the Cardinals.

Goldschmidt (knee) will start at first base and bat sixth Sunday against the Cardinals.

Goldschmidt has been battling a knee sprain, but he'll return to the lineup for the first time since Tuesday. The veteran first baseman has a .716 OPS through 11 games in August, though he's gone just 3-for-24 outside of a three-hit performance Aug. 4 in Miami.

Gasper is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

He started four straight games earlier this month, but Gasper has predictably found himself as the odd man out more often than not since Matt Wallner returned from the paternity list. Gasper will remain on the bench Sunday for the fifth time in seven contests.

Outman will start in left field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Outman will be awarded a second straight start despite going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Saturday's 8-5 loss. With Alan Roden (thumb) getting shut down for the season, Outman could be in line for an extended trial in a strong-side platoon role.
