Correa (ankle) has begun light on-field baseball activities as well as a running progression, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Correa underwent season-ending left ankle surgery in May. Nothing has changed regarding Correa's timetable, but the veteran being able to re-incorporate baseball activities in late July gives him a chance to enter the offseason without any major restrictions.

The Astros re-signed Shewmake to a minor-league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

After spending over three months with Houston to start the season before being traded to Milwaukee, Shewmake is back with the Astros. Between Houston and Milwaukee this season, the 28-year-old has slashed .259/.270/.424 with three home runs in 91 plate appearances.

The Rangers optioned Smith to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Smith has struggled mightily at the plate this season, managing just a .213/.299/.272 batting line in 45 contests. It's the third time since late June that the utility player has been sent down to the minors.

The Rangers recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Curvelo will return to the big-league club for the first time since June 13. With Round Rock, the 25-year-old has posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 24:16 K:BB through 22.2 innings this season. Texas optioned Winston Santos to Triple-A to free up space for Curvelo on the active roster.

Santos' stint with the big club lasted only one day, and he did not make an appearance. He could join the rotation at Round Rock.

The Rangers designated Gonzales for assignment Friday.

Gonzales permitted a total of one run in a pair of three-inning relief outings for the Rangers, but he's nonetheless being jettisoned to waivers. The southpaw would have the ability to elect free agency if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

The Rangers reinstated Seager from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Seager landed on the IL on July 1 with a back injury and will return to action exactly 30 days later after being activated Friday. The 32-year-old has slashed a career-worst .182/.292/.374 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI in 219 plate appearances this season. Texas optioned Josh Smith to Triple-A to make room for Seager on the active roster.

The Angels selected Murphy's contract from Double-A Rocket City on Friday.

Murphy has turned in a dominant 0.71 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB over 38 innings with Rocket City this season. Presuming he gets into a game, it would be the 26-year-old's major-league debut.

The Blue Jays activated Fisher from the bereavement list Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Fisher was away for the series against the Nationals earlier this week but is back in time for the start of a homestand Friday. He's logged a 4.15 ERA and 52:26 K:BB over 52 frames for Toronto in 2026.

The Blue Jays optioned Pinango to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

As Jesus Sanchez (ankle) returns from the injured list after missing over a month of action, Pinango will make his way down to the Triple-A squad. In 180 plate appearances this season, the 24-year-old has slashed .260/.306/.396 with five homers and 20 RBI.
