Profar went 2-for-3 with three walks, two solo home runs and two additional runs scored in Wednesday's 12-1 rout of the Marlins.

Profar set the tone for the offensive eruption when he took Ryan Gusto deep on the third pitch he saw to lead off the game, before clubbing a Seth Martinez sweeper into the second deck in right field at loanDepot Park to wrap up the scoring in the seventh inning. Profar is up to 12 homers on the season, and six of them have come in the last 10 games -- a stretch in which the 32-year-old outfielder is batting .385 (15-for-39) with three steals, 13 runs, 17 RBI and an 8:5 BB:K.

Wentz (5-4) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in a 12-1 rout of the Marlins. He struck out five.

Atlanta handed the southpaw a 9-0 lead through four innings, letting Wentz cruise to his third quality start in eight turns since joining the rotation coming out of the All-Star break. Over that stretch, the 27-year-old has delivered a 3.67 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 33:15 K:BB through 41.2 innings. Wentz will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week against the Cubs.

The Nationals plan to promote Stubbs from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Friday's game against the Rays, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

The 28-year-old is on the cusp of his first look in the majors after No. 2 catcher Drew Millas suffered a fractured and dislocated finger Wednesday. Stubbs has a .148/.279/.240 slash line between the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season and isn't likely to see much playing time as the backup to Riley Adams.

The Marlins will recall Mazur from Triple-A Jacksonville to start Thursday's game against the Mets at Citi Field, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

The 24-year-old righty will fill the void in Miami's rotation left by Janson Junk's (elbow) move to the injured list Wednesday. Mazur gave up four earned runs over 5.2 innings during his lone MLB start of the season against Philadelphia on June 18, and he'll be welcomed back to the big leagues by a Mets offense that has turned in a staggering .849 OPS since the start of August.

Bailey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bailey started Tuesday's series opener and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout, dropping his slash line in August to .227/.271/.288 through 21 games. Andrew Knizner will step in behind the plate Wednesday to catch for lefty Carson Whisenhunt.

The Diamondbacks designated English for assignment Wednesday.

English lost his place on the active roster in early August after putting up a .266 OPS through seven games. His Triple-A numbers have been a bit more impressive -- .320/.367/.522 through 344 plate appearances -- but he'll now lose his 40-man spot in favor of right-handed pitcher Taylor Rashi. Despite the poor performance during his brief MLB stint, English's minor-league statline may be good enough for another team to be willing to pick him up off waivers.

Manager Dave Roberts said that Call is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds due to a lower-back injury, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Call has been filling the small side of a platoon in left field but won't start against lefty Nick Lodolo on Wednesday due to the injury, which he sustained during Tuesday's 6-3 win. The Dodgers have a scheduled day off Thursday and are expected to face Diamondbacks righty Zac Gallen on Friday, so Call should have a couple days to recover before the next time Los Angeles faces a left-handed starting pitcher.

The Diamondbacks optioned Morillo to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

Morillo gave up a run on one hit and two walks without recording an out in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers. His latest appearance elevated his ERA to 4.55 to go with his 1.77 WHIP through 31.2 innings with the D-backs, and he'll now aim to get back on track in the minors. Taylor Rashi was promoted from Reno to take Morillo's place in Arizona's bullpen.

Chaparro went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 11-2 loss to the Yankees.

Getting the start at first base and batting sixth against southpaw Max Fried, Chaparro didn't have much success at the plate until the ninth inning, when he crushed a hanging curve from Paul Blackburn 411 feet over the left-field fence. It was Chaparro's first homer in 10 games with the Nationals this season, and since being called back up in mid-August, the 26-year-old has gone 4-for-13 (.308) with a double, a homer and a 3:4 BB:K, primarily as a short-side platoon option. Wednesday's long ball off a right-hander might encourage interim manager Miguel Cairo to expand Chaparro's role over the final weeks of the season.

Cavalli (1-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Nationals were routed 11-2 by the Yankees, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits -- including four home runs -- and a walk over 2.1 innings. He struck out four.

The home squad sent 15 men to the plate in a nine-run third inning that saw Cavalli serve up long balls to Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Ryan McMahon before he got the hook. Cavalli had been pitching well since joining the big-league rotation for Washington in early August, but Wednesday's disastrous outing sent his ERA soaring from 2.82 to 5.11. The right-hander will look to rebound in his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Marlins.
