  • Matt Shaw RF | CHC

Cubs' Matt Shaw: Returns to lineup Tuesday

Shaw (personal) will start at third base and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Shaw was away from the club Sunday in order to attend a funeral, but he's back in action Tuesday following the Cubs' team off day Monday. The rookie infielder is slashing just .200/.297/.309 in September.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Scratched with wrist injury

Bart was scratched from Tuesday's lineup in Cincinnati due to left wrist discomfort, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Bart had been slated to serve as the Pirates' designated hitter, but he'll need at least a day to rest a wrist issue. Bryan Reynolds will move from right field into the DH slot, while Alexander Canario has entered the lineup in right field.

  • Nasim Nunez 2B | WAS

Nationals' Nasim Nunez: Fourth straight start Tuesday

Nunez will start at second base and bat leadoff in Tuesday's contest versus Atlanta.

It's the fourth straight start for Nunez and the second straight day he's been in the leadoff spot. He enters play Tuesday having homered in back-to-back games and is 9-for-30 with four home runs and a stolen base in September. Nunez could continue to push Luis Garcia -- who is making his first-ever start at first base Tuesday -- for playing time at second base down the stretch.

  • Luis Garcia 1B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: First-ever start at first base

Garcia will start at first base and bat fifth in Tuesday's game against Atlanta.

It marks the first time in pro ball that Garcia has ever played first base. It's also Garcia's first start since Friday, as he was out of the lineup for each of the last three games. Nasim Nunez is handling second base for the Nationals on Tuesday and could be threatening to overtake Garcia at the keystone.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: Out of lineup again Tuesday

Bell is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Atlanta.

Bell isn't dealing with any known injury, but this will be his second straight day out of the lineup. Luis Garcia is making his first-ever start at first base for the Nationals.

  • Daylen Lile LF | WAS

Nationals' Daylen Lile: Back in action Tuesday

Lile (knee) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Tuesday's game versus Atlanta.

Lile missed the first game of the series Monday with a knee issue, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go Tuesday. The rookie has been one of the best hitters in baseball in September, slashing .378/.432/.757 with four home runs.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Sitting out with illness

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Harper is absent from Tuesday's lineup versus the Marlins due to illness, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The illness is bad enough to force Harper to miss his first start since July 2, but he should be ready to return to action in a day or two. Otto Kemp is at first base and batting ninth for the Phillies.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Moved down to six spot

Edwards will start at second base and bat sixth in Tuesday's game versus the Phillies.

Edwards batted third in the previous two contests, which was the first time all season he hit anywhere other than leadoff. Now Edwards -- who is slashing .168/.219/.215 across his last 27 games -- will be all the way down in the No. 6 spot.

  • Austin Hays LF | CHW

Reds' Austin Hays: Remains out of lineup

Hays (back) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Pirates.

Hays had to be lifted from Saturday's game versus the Cubs with back spasms and will now miss a second straight start. Will Benson will handle left field and Noelvi Marte will patrol right field for the Reds in Tuesday's series opener.

  • Brandon Nimmo RF | TEX

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Getting start in center field

Nimmo will start in center field and bat cleanup in Tuesday's contest versus the Cubs.

Nimmo has plenty of past center-field experience, but this will be just his fifth appearance and first start at the position this season. Starling Marte will start in left field for the Mets.
