Pederson (hip) is batting leadoff as the designated hitter Friday against the Red Sox.

The veteran slugger sat out Thursday's series finale in Kansas City after exiting Wednesday's contest due to left hip discomfort, but he's ready to go after sitting out one game. Pederson had a hot start to June -- going 5-for-12 with three extra-base hits in the first three contests of the month -- but he has just one hit across his past five games.

Seager is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

Seager is batting .238 (5-for-21) with two homers and for RBI in five games since returning from the injured list last week, and he'll receive a day off Friday after starting the previous three contests. Ezequiel Duran will pick up a start shortstop for the series opener in Boston.

Martin is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

The right-handed-hitting Martin could be losing his grip on a regular role against right-handed pitching. He's now been left out of the starting nine twice in the Twins' last three matchups with righties, and in the game he did start, he batted ninth. Martin is slashing an ugly .138/.219/.207 over his last 25 contests. Kody Clemens will cover right field for Minnesota on Friday.

The Tigers reinstated Jansen (pelvis) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

The veteran right-hander landed on the injured list in late May due to right pelvic inflammation, but he's back on the active roster after spending the 15-day minimum on the shelf. Jansen surrendered three runs on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning during his lone rehab outing with Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday. Despite having four blown saves and an underwhelming 4.80 ERA through 18 appearances this year, Jansen is expected to serve as Detroit's primary closer now that he's healthy.

The Cardinals transferred Urias (elbows) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Blaze Jordan. Urias has been out since early May with tennis elbow in his right arm, and he had to be pulled off a rehab assignment last week after developing the same injury to his other elbow. There's no timetable for his return.

Ohtani (knee) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

The two-way star exited Thursday's matchup with the Pirates due to left knee inflammation and will miss at least one start. Manager Dave Roberts said after Thursday's game that his concern level for the injury was "not high," so Ohtani should continue to be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

The Cardinals recalled Roycroft from Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Roycroft has been unscored upon in seven of his last eight outings at Memphis while showing an uptick in velocity, having averaged 96.8 mph with his sinker in his last appearance. He'll operate in middle relief for St. Louis.

The Cardinals optioned Dobbins to Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Dobbins made a couple long-relief appearances and one start for the Cardinals during his stint in the majors. The club had left open the possibility of sticking with Dobbins as part of a six-man rotation for at least another turn, but ultimately it opted to revert back to a five-man setup. Dobbins holds a 3.63 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB across 17.1 innings in the majors this season.

The Cardinals optioned Gorman to Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Gorman is slashing a feeble .194/.279/.318 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate this season, and he's gone 3-for-50 with a 5:27 BB:K over his last 17 contests. The 26-year-old will attempt to get his swing right at Memphis, but Gorman's days as a regular in St. Louis might be over.

Atlanta activated Waldrep (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday and subsequently optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The right-hander has been working his way back from offseason elbow surgery and made his third minor-league rehab start Thursday -- surrendering four runs across 3.2 innings with Double-A Columbus -- so it's an interesting decision by Atlanta to activate him now rather than simply continuing his rehab assignment in the minors. Waldrep posted a 2.88 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 55:22 K:BB across 56.1 regular-season frames in the big leagues last year and should get another look with Atlanta at some point this summer.
