Singer is hopeful of making his next start despite being hit in the right foot by a comebacker during Tuesday's outing versus the Nationals, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports.

A 106.7-mph comebacker off the bat of Daylen Lile in the second inning caught Singer in the foot. He stayed in the game but allowed five of the next 12 batters to reach base and three of them to score, so he might have been affected by the injury. However, Singer feels better than expected Wednesday, and it seems he should be good to go Sunday in Cleveland, barring a setback.

Paddack signed a one-year deal with the Reds on Wednesday and is slated to start Saturday's game against the Guardians in Cleveland, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Paddack will be taking over the rotation spot of Rhett Lowder (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday in a corresponding transaction. Though the 30-year-old righty will provide the Reds with a battle-tested arm at the back end of the rotation, he'll need to display vastly improved form with his new club to ensure he maintains a starting role on anything more than a short-term basis. Paddack won a spot in the Miami rotation coming out of spring training but went 0-5 with a 7.63 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 27:10 K:BB over 30.2 innings before the Marlins cut him loose last week.

The Reds designated HIggins for assignment Wednesday.

Cincinnati moved Higgins off its 40-man roster to free up a spot for right-hander Chris Paddack, who inked a one-year deal with the Reds on Wednesday. Higgins had been playing at Triple-A Louisville for the past two and a half weeks but was up with the Reds earlier in April, going 2-for-10 with a walk and an RBI over six games during his brief time in the majors.

The Reds placed Lowder on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right shoulder discomfort.

Lowder was forced to exit his start last Thursday with right shoulder trouble and was subsequently given an injection in the AC joint. He does not have any structural damage, so Lowder has a chance to return soon, but it will depend on how he does after he's cleared to ramp up throwing again. Chris Paddack was signed to take Lowder's roster spot and should also hold down a slot in the rotation while Lowder is out.

Rafaela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Rafaela appears to be receiving a routine breather after he had started in each of the team's last 11 games while going 12-for-43 (.279 average) with two home runs, two stolen bases, seven RBI and four runs over that stretch. Jarren Duran will slide over from left field to replace Rafaela in center.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Connor Wong will get the nod at catcher Wednesday while the Red Sox are seemingly taking a timeshare approach to the position. Narvaez hasn't started consecutive games since May 3 and 4 and has now been behind the plate for three of the Red Sox's last seven contests. Wong has picked up three starts at catcher during that stretch while Mickey Gasper has served as Boston's backstop for the other game.

Contreras (hand) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Contreras will make his return to the lineup after a bruised right hand kept him on the bench for the first time since mid-April during Tuesday's 2-1 loss. The one day was apparently all Contreras needed for the soreness and swelling in his hand to subside, so he'll take back his normal spot in the field Wednesday while Mickey Gasper shifts to designated hitter after starting at first base Tuesday.

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said Wednesday that Rodriguez (shoulder) is a candidate to start Sunday's game versus the Dodgers, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Rodriguez pitched well in a rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday, striking out 11 over 4.2 innings while yielding two runs. He got his pitch count up to 94 in the outing, so the righty is sufficiently stretched out. Rodriguez has been out all season with right shoulder inflammation and has not made an appearance at the major-league level since 2024 due to multiple arm injuries. He was acquired from the Orioles in November in exchange for Taylor Ward.

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Castro will take a seat Wednesday after he had been included in the lineup for each of the last five games while making starts at all four infield spots. Despite not having a permanent home at any one position, Castro has handled a near-everyday role for the Rockies this season and has turned in a .241/.303/.339 slash line to go with two home runs, three stolen bases, 17 runs and 13 RBI over 122 plate appearances.

Goodman is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.

Goodman had started each of the last four games -- including three at catcher -- so he will get some rest Wednesday. Brett Sullivan will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Rockies.
