Whisenhunt will undergo Tommy John surgery Sept. 16, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

It had already been reported that Whisenhunt would have surgery to repair his left elbow UCL, and now it's been revealed that he will have a full Tommy John repair. The left-hander is likely to be sidelined until the 2028 campaign.

Montes is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Since his promotion, the left-handed-hitting Montes has now been held out of the lineup all four times the Mariners have faced a lefty hurler. He did deal with a minor hip injury during that time, as well, but it seems clear the rookie will be used on the strong side of a platoon. Montes clubbed his second big-league home run in Tuesday's game, and he's 4-for-18 with a 1:9 BB:K in his first six games in the majors.

Arnold has been diagnosed with intra-orbital and maxillary sinus fractures after being struck in the left side of the face by a line drive during a start Tuesday at Triple-A Las Vegas, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com.

Facing his second batter of the game, Arnold was drilled on the left cheek by a 107 mph line drive. He immediately walked off the mound and into the clubhouse without assistance, but subsequent testing revealed the fractures. Arnold was making just his second start since being promoted to Las Vegas, and he was charged with one run while failing to record an out Tuesday. He will not need surgery, but the left-hander's season is over and it's uncertain beyond that how long his rehab will take. Arnold has collected a 3.50 ERA and 130:52 K:BB over 118.1 innings covering 25 starts this season between Double-A Midland and Las Vegas.

The Nationals recalled Yean from Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.

He'll grab the roster and bullpen spot vacated by Zak Kent, who was optioned following Tuesday's game. Yean has made seven relief appearances for the Nationals this season, permitting only two runs with a 6:2 K:BB covering 10 innings of work.

Cronenworth is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals.

He's getting a routine day off after starting each of the previous six games. Fernando Tatis will net a start at second base, and Jase Bowen will play right field for the Padres in the series finale.

Salas is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Salas is absent from the lineup for the second day in a row and has started only three of eight contests since being called up. The Padres are facing a fifth lefty (Jackson Kent) during that stretch Wednesday, which has contributed to Salas' lack of playing time. He's been in the batting order twice in three tilts versus righties. Luis Campusano will be behind the plate for the Padres on Wednesday.

Basabe is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals.

Basabe started the previous five contests for the Giants, but he'll exit the lineup for Wednesday's series finale. Jonah Cox will handle second base in Basabe's stead.

Devers is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

It's the first day off this season for the red-hot Devers, who is 11-for-30 with five home runs in his first eight contests this month. Bryce Eldridge will handle first base, while Turner Hill will grab a start at designated hitter as the Giants try to complete a series sweep.

Lukes is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

With lefty Brady Basso making the start for the Athletics, Lukes will take a seat after starting each of the past nine contests. Brett Bateman will shift over to right field, with Myles Straw making the start in center. Lukes is hitting .343 with a .743 OPS across 35 plate appearances this month.

Langford went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and one steal in Tuesday's 10-5 win over the Mariners.

The 24-year-old ended a 12-game power drought Tuesday with his two-run homer during the fifth inning. Langford batted .179 (7-for-39) during the homerless stretch, but he still showed a good eye at the plate with a 13:7 BB:K. Through 401 plate appearances this season, he has a .245/.332/.442 slash line with 16 long balls, 12 steals, 38 RBI and 57 runs scored.
