The Red Sox placed Slaten (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

Slaten's placement on the IL is retroactive to Thursday, so he'll be eligible to return as soon as Aug. 28 if he's fully recovered from right elbow inflammation by then. The Red Sox recalled left-hander Raymond Burgos from Triple-A Worcester to take Slaten's spot in the bullpen.

Boston recalled Burgos from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.

Burgos will join the big-league club for the second time this season, replacing the injured Justin Slaten (elbow) on the active roster. During his brief stint with Boston earlier this month, Burgos made a pair of relief appearances and gave up two earned runs while striking out four over six innings.

The Red Sox placed Yoshida (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left hamstring strain.

Boston recalled catcher/designated hitter Mickey Gasper from Triple-A Worcester as a replacement for Yoshida, who is likely to be shelved into September while he recovers from a left hamstring strain he sustained Saturday. Adley Rutschman will serve as Boston's designated hitter in Sunday's series finale, but interim manager Chad Tracy could elect to rotate in a number of players through the DH spot while Yoshida is on the mend.

Mack is absent from the lineup for Sunday's game with the Reds.

Mack will get a breather after starting behind the plate in the first two games of the series and going 3-for-7 with a solo home run. Brian Navarreto will handle catching duties and bat ninth for Miami in the finale in Cincinnati.

Arizona selected Santana's contract from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Just 10 days after signing a minor-league deal with Arizona, Santana will be moved up to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster. Before joining the Diamondbacks, Santana had spent the season in Pittsburgh's big-league bullpen, posting a 6.05 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 37:21 K:BB over 41.2 innings. Arizona designated Philip Abner for assignment in order to clear room on the roster for Santana.

Encarnacion-Strand will start at third base and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Rays.

The former Red appeared to have moved into a timeshare at third base with Coby Mayo by the end of last week, but Encarnacion-Strand may be re-emerging as the Orioles' preferred option at the position. He'll cover third base for a fifth straight game after going 5-for-16 with two home runs, one stolen base, three RBI and an additional run over the previous four. Mayo will also remain in the lineup for a third straight game, this time at first base while Pete Alonso gets a break from defensive duties as the DH.

Alvarez is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Nationals.

Alvarez, who has struck out five times over seven at-bats this series, will sit out of Sunday's finale. Luis Torrens will handle the catching duties and bat ninth for the Mets.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Narvaez will take a seat after starting the last three games, giving way to Yohel Pozo behind the dish Sunday. Though he's been operating as the Orioles' primary backstop since being acquired from the Red Sox on Aug. 3, Narvaez will likely see a steep drop in playing time once Samuel Basallo (shoulder) is ready to return from the injured list. Basallo is set to begin a rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Norfolk.

Chisholm is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Chisholm, who is slashing just .137/.254/.196 over his last 15 games, will ride the pine for Sunday's series finale. Jose Caballero will man second base and bat ninth for the Yankees.

O'Neill is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Per Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun, first baseman Pete Alonso is nursing a minor calf injury that will keep him from playing defense Sunday, but he'll remain in the lineup at designated hitter and bump O'Neill to the bench. O'Neill started the last eight games and went 6-for-28 (.214 average) with one home run and a 6:10 BB:K.
