Skubal (7-5) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 7.1 innings in a 2-1 victory over the Royals. He struck out 12.

The dozen strikeouts were a season high for the two-time reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, and Skubal's changeup was particularly vicious, generating 10 whiffs on 14 swings as he put together his eighth quality start of the year. The trade rumors swirling about Skubal haven't been a distraction for him, and over four outings in July he's delivered a 1.48 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 35:5 K:BB over 24.1 innings. He lines up to make what could be his final start as a Tiger at home next week against the Orioles.

Castro went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Friday against the Brewers.

Castro led off the fourth inning with a single and immediately swiped second base, his seventh stolen base of the year. He continues to hit well coming out of the All-Star break, collecting six RBI and four runs scored with two homers across seven games.

Hudson (3-3) was tagged with the blown save and the loss Friday against the Astros after allowing four runs on three hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one.

Hudson entered the game with the White Sox leading by four after Davis Martin allowed one run and loaded the bases in the sixth inning. However, Hudson gave up a bases-clearing double to Christian Walker and a two-run homer to Cam Smith, and he'd allow two more baserunners before exiting the game. This outing snapped an impressive streak from Hudson, who hadn't given up a run in his previous five appearances while posting a 3.68 ERA in 14.2 innings since the beginning of June before this game.

Cameron didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers, allowing two hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings of relief. He struck out eight.

Cameron rose to the occasion in a duel with two-time AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, but unfortunately for the Royals, Beck Way gave up two runs in the first inning as the opener. Cameron tossed 58 of 97 pitches for strikes as he fanned at least seven batters for the third time in four July outings, but it's been a bumpy month for the 27-year-old southpaw despite his 25:12 K:BB over 24 innings, as he has a 4.88 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in that span even after Friday's performance. Cameron will look to build on this effort in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Minnesota.

Karros went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI on Friday against the Brewers.

Karros doubled in his first at-bat before coming around to score, and he then singled in a run in his next plate appearance. It was his first multi-hit effort since the All-Star break, though he has gotten on base a .417 clip with three runs scored in six games since play resumed. Karros also hit second in Colorado's lineup, a position he's held of late against lefties.

Martin didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Astros, allowing four runs on six hits across five innings. He struck out three and walked none but hit two batters.

Martin cruised through the first five innings Friday, and he left the game having allowed one run and with the bases loaded -- all three runners came around to score on a Christian Walker three-run double later in the frame. Martin was one of the most surprising pitchers in the majors during the first three months of the regular season, but he's been trending in the wrong direction. Factoring in a nine-run implosion against the Yankees on June 16, Martin owns a 6.06 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 32.2 innings in his last seven starts. He'll aim to bounce back in his next start against the Yankees at home.

Bubic (elbow/shoulder) began a throwing progression Friday with 30 throws from 45-to-60 feet, MLB.com reports.

Bubic had been shut down from throwing since the beginning of July due to shoulder soreness, which cropped up while he was rehabbing from left elbow soreness that landed him on the injured list May 18. Resuming a throwing program is a positive sign, though the southpaw still has many hurdles to clear before returning to game action at the big-league level. Before hitting the shelf, Bubic posted a 3-2 record with a 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 51:26 K:BB across 50.1 innings (nine starts).

Weng (5-6) earned the win in relief Friday against the White Sox after allowing two runs on two hits and a walk across two innings. He struck out one.

Teng pitched the fourth and fifth innings, as the Astros had to come up with a plan on the spot after Spencer Arrighetti (foot) was taken out of the game following the first inning. Teng has made 10 starts and 15 relief appearances this season, and he could be a candidate to rejoin the rotation if Arrighetti is forced to miss time.

Turang went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Rockies.

The star second baseman took Tomoyuki Sugano deep in the sixth inning for Milwaukee's final gasp of offense on the day. It was Turang's first multi-hit performance since July 9, and over 19 games this month he's delivered a .288/.366/.521 slash line with eight doubles, three homers, two steals, 10 runs and 14 RBI.

Drohan (5-4) took the loss Friday as the Brewers fell 5-2 to the Rockies, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks over six-plus innings. He struck out six.

While he was able to keep the ball in the park, three of the six hits off Drohan went for extra bases, helping to put Milwaukee in an early hole the offense couldn't climb out of. It was the first time all season that the southpaw had been tagged for more than four runs in an outing, and while Drohan has lasted at least six innings in four straight starts, his 4.44 ERA during that span is a little less impressive than his 1.11 WHIP and 23:5 K:BB over 24.1 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come on the road next week in San Francisco.
