  • Giants' Gregory Santos: Begins rehab assignment

Santos (adductor) allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning during the ACL Giants' 7-4 loss to the ACL Athletics in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Friday.

Triple-A Sacramento placed Santos on its 7-day injured list May 26 with a right adductor strain, and he returned to action in Arizona. The 26-year-old right-hander gave up two singles while throwing 16 of his 20 pitches for strikes. He has spent most of the season at Triple-A, where he owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 14 innings in 12 appearances.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Multi-hit effort in loss

Schmitt went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins.

Schmitt singled in the second inning and added an RBI single in the sixth. The 27-year-old has recorded two hits in four straight games and is now batting .264 with six runs scored, six RBI, three home runs and two stolen bases over 74 plate appearances in June. Overall, he's slashing .286/.316/.509 with 39 RBI, 33 runs scored, 15 long balls and seven stolen bases across 285 plate appearances on the year.

  • Blue Jays' Yohendrick Pinango: Out of Saturday's lineup

Pinango isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Pinango will retreat to the bench Saturday following his 0-for-4 performance Friday that included a pair of strikeouts. While he sits, Myles Straw, Daulton Varsho and Nathan Lukes will form Toronto's outfield trio.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Doubles in defeat

Lee went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins.

Lee singled and stole second in the third inning before lining a double and coming around to score in the sixth. The 27-year-old outfielder has cooled off recently, batting .227 in 23 plate appearances over his last six games. However, he's still slashing .403/.415/.516 with 13 runs scored, seven RBI, four stolen bases and a home run across 65 plate appearances in June.

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Riding pine Saturday

Sanchez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Taking seat Saturday

Kirk isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Kirk will grab a seat on the bench Saturday after going 0-for-4 with a couple of strikeouts during Friday's loss. Brandon Valenzuela will fill in as Toronto's catcher and bat fourth.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Idle Saturday

Clement (hip) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Clement will miss a second consecutive start Saturday due to hip soreness. The 30-year-old had been playing through his injury for a while prior to sitting out Friday's game, though he may have to spend time on the injured list if he doesn't rejoin the lineup within the next couple of days. Davis Schneider will start at second base and bat seventh Saturday.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: In Saturday's lineup

Guerrero (back) will start at first base and bat third Saturday against the Cubs.

Guerrero was forced out of Friday's game early due to a back injury, but it won't prevent him from missing a start. The 27-year-old has been trending downward since the beginning of June, slashing just .189/.241/.302 with six RBI and five runs scored across 14 games this month.

  • Cade Cavalli SP | WAS

He'll be looking to turn things around after posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 15 innings across his first three starts of the month.

Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Officially returning Monday

Bieber (elbow) will return from the 60-day injured list to start Monday's game against Houston, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Manager John Schneider had previously hinted that Bieber would be coming off the IL on Monday, but the team wanted to see him throw one last bullpen session Saturday before locking him into the pitching schedule. The 31-year-old righty has made five rehab appearances across three affiliates since beginning his minor-league assignment in late May, posting a 6.88 ERA and 1.88 WHIP with a 14:5 K:BB across 17 innings. He threw 80 pitches in five frames during his final rehab outing with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
