  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Launches game-winning homer

Goodman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a double Tuesday in an 8-7 victory versus Washington.

Goodman snapped a 7-7 tie with a solo blast in the eighth inning, producing what ended up being the winning run. The All-Star catcher has five hits in 16 at-bats since the midseason break, with all five knocks (four homers and a double) going for extra bases. Goodman's homer Tuesday was his 31st of the season in his 94th game, tying the career-high mark he established over 144 contests last year.

  • Brandon Sproat SP | MIL

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Falls despite limiting damage

Sproat (3-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings.

Sproat surrendered a solo homer to Jared Young in the third inning to open the scoring. He struggled to settle in, failing to record any 1-2-3 innings and allowing a runner to reach scoring position in every frame. He exited in the fifth after being dinged only by the early homer, but Chad Patrick allowed an inherited runner to score. The right-handed Sproat has now gone five straight starts without allowing more than two earned runs, though he has completed at least five innings in only two of those outings. He'll carry a 5.09 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 91:43 K:BB into his next scheduled start on the road against San Francisco.

  • Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Homers off bench Tuesday

Rodriguez (leg) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Reds.

Rodriguez entered the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and remained in the contest in center field for the final three frames. He delivered a solo shot to pull the Mariners within a run in the eighth. The outfielder appears to be no worse than day-to-day at this time and could be back in the lineup as soon as Wednesday. He is hitting .258 with a .747 OPS, 15 homers, 12 stolen bases, 43 RBI, 48 runs scored and 15 doubles over 91 contests this season.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Mariners' Luis Castillo: Works seven innings in loss

Castillo (3-9) allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over seven innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Reds.

Two of the four hits Castillo allowed were solo home runs, though it was Sal Stewart's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning that ultimately sealed the loss for Seattle. This was a third straight defeat for Castillo, who has allowed nine runs over 18 innings with an 11:4 K:BB in that span. For the season, he has a 4.85 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 84:30 K:BB through 94.2 innings across 19 appearances (16 starts). Castillo is tentatively lined up for a tough road start versus the Dodgers next week, though he is a candidate to be traded if the Mariners want to clear their logjam of starters.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CLE

Reds' Nathaniel Lowe: Pops homer in win

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Mariners.

Lowe homered for the third time over his last four games. He's added six RBI in that span. The first baseman could get a boost in playing time as long as Spencer Steer (ribs) is out of the lineup. Lowe is batting .249 with an .815 OPS, 12 homers, 31 RBI, 23 runs scored and 13 doubles over 235 plate appearances this season.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Pops homer in win over M's

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Mariners.

Suarez went yard off Luis Castillo in the fourth inning to put the Reds up 2-0. This was Suarez's fifth homer in his last 11 games, though he's gone a modest 9-for-41 (.220) with a 3:21 BB:K in that span. The veteran slugger is hitting .208 with a .682 OPS, 13 homers, 37 RBI, 26 runs scored, 11 doubles and no stolen bases over 72 contests in the first year of his second stint with Cincinnati.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Sets tone with leadoff homer

De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Mariners.

De La Cruz worked an eight-pitch at-bat to lead off the game and ended it with a solo shot just right of center field. The shortstop has had everything working recently, going 14-for-40 (.350) with four homers, five RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases over his last 10 games. For the season, he's hitting .280 with an .863 OPS, 17 long balls, 46 RBI, 55 runs scored, 15 steals, 15 doubles and four triples over 81 contests.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Belts 16th long ball

Moniak went 2-for-4 with a home run, an additional run and two total RBI in an 8-7 victory versus the Nationals on Tuesday.

Moniak produced Colorado's first run with an RBI single in the second inning and added a solo homer in the sixth. The 28-year-old had gone without a homer in 12 straight games coming into Tuesday and had posted just three RBI during that stretch. Still, Moniak's .894 OPS is on track for a career-best mark, and with 16 homers and 42 RBI through 66 games, he also has a good chance of setting career highs in both of those categories.

  • Zach Thornton SP | NYM

Mets' Zac Thornton: Earns first MLB win

Thornton (1-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out two over six scoreless innings.

Thornton threw 53 of his 81 pitches for strikes and picked up the first major-league victory of his career. The left-hander allowed just one hit through his first five innings and retired 13 consecutive batters during one stretch before finishing with his second straight scoreless outing. Thornton has now thrown 18 consecutive shutout innings and through his first four major-league starts he owns a 1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across 23.1 innings. He's lined up to make his next start Monday at home against Atlanta.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Reds' Emilio Pagan: Picks up eighth save

Pagan struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Mariners.

This was Pagan's second save in five outings since he returned from a hamstring injury. He's allowed two runs while posting an 8:2 K:BB over 4.1 innings in that span. The right-hander is at a 5.89 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB with eight saves in 11 chances over 18.1 innings this season. Pagan is still the Reds' top closing option due to the absences of Tony Santillan (oblique) and Graham Ashcraft (elbow), but the team's last-place status makes it tough to expect many saves.
