Devils' Simon Nemec: Picks up three assists

Nemec had three assists, two shots on goal, five blocks and a plus-2 rating during his 23:35 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 win against the Avalanche.

Nemec had one of the finest games of his young career Sunday, picking up three assists and finishing with a game-high plus-2 rating. It's a new single-game career high in points and the fourth multi-point outing of the 21-year-old's career. In totality, the defenseman has seven assists and a plus-1 rating through nine games on the year, really seeming to be finding his footing in his third professional campaign.

  • Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Recalled by Carolina

Fensore was recalled from AHL Chicago on Sunday.

Fensore made his NHL debut last year by making two appearances for the Hurricanes in mid-April, and he'll rejoin the Hurricanes after Charles-Alexis Legault was sent down Sunday. He's gotten off to a hot start in the minors, recording three goals, four assists and a minus-2 rating over four AHL appearances to begin the year.

  • Hurricanes' Charles-Alexis Legault: Placed back in minors

Legault was returned to AHL Chicago by the Hurricanes on Sunday, according to the official AHL website.

Legault has appeared in each of the Hurricanes' last three games, albeit in a sheltered role. The 22-year-old doesn't have a point but does have a plus-1 rating while averaging just 11:53 of ice time. His move to the AHL likely means some good news is on the way for one or more of Carolina's NHL defensemen that is currently out with injury, a list that presently includes K'Andre Miller, Jaccob Slavin and Shayne Gostisbehere.

  • Brett Pesce D | NJ

Devils' Brett Pesce: Won't travel with team

Pesce suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over Colorado and won't travel with the Devils on the team's upcoming four-game road trip, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.

Pesce entered Sunday's game with three assists, eight shots on net, 23 blocked shots and four hits in eight appearances. Dennis Cholowski could play against the Avalanche in Tuesday's rematch, but the Devils may bring up reinforcements from AHL Utica for the trip.

  • Sharks' John Klingberg: Won't play Sunday

Klingberg (lower body) won't play against Minnesota on Sunday, according to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.

Klingberg will miss his sixth straight game. He has supplied one goal, one assist, four shots on net, four blocked shots and three hits across three appearances this season. It's unclear at this time if he will be ready to return versus the Kings on Tuesday.

  • Ryan Shea D | PIT

Penguins' Ryan Shea: Tallies in shootout loss

Shea scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Shea snapped a three-game point drought with the goal. The 28-year-old defenseman has done a fine job filling a top-four role this year. He's up to five points, eight shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through nine appearances while averaging 20:50 of ice time. Shea has already matched his point total from a 39-game sample last season, and while he probably won't sustain his current pace, he should be able to push for 25-30 points in 2025-26.

  • Kris Letang D | PIT

Penguins' Kris Letang: Strikes on power play

Letang scored a power-play goal on two shots, blocked three shots, added two hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Letang started slow, but he's earned four points over his last four games, accounting for all of his offense this season. His goal Saturday was the first of two late in the third period for the Penguins to help get the game to overtime. Through nine contests, the veteran defenseman has added 11 shots on net, 12 hits, 14 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating for a team that has exceeded early expectations.

  • Dante Fabbro D | CLB

Blue Jackets' Dante Fabbro: Collects assist in shootout win

Fabbro logged an assist and three blocked shots in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over the Penguins.

Fabbro started the year on the top pairing, but his slow start has seen him move down the lineup while Denton Mateychuk gets minutes alongside Zach Werenski. The 27-year-old Fabbro has just the one helper with six shots on net, 17 blocked shots, three hits and two PIM across eight appearances. He set a career high with 26 points in 2024-25, but a repeat effort doesn't seem to be in the cards.

  • Canucks' Kirill Kudryavtsev: Brought up from AHL

Kudryavtsev was summoned from AHL Abbotsford on Sunday.

In a corresponding move, the Canucks returned Joseph LaBate to the minors. Kudryavtsev has contributed five assists in five AHL outings this season. He will be an option for Sunday's game against Edmonton, but it's unclear if he will be in the lineup.

  • Bruins' Jonathan Aspirot: Summoned from AHL

Aspirot was recalled from AHL Providence on Sunday, according to Belle Fraser of the Bruins' official site.

In a corresponding move, Boston placed Hampus Lindholm (undisclosed) on injured reserve. Aspirot has one goal and two assists in five minor-league outings this season. He will provide the big club with some defensive depth, but it's unclear if he will get a chance to make his NHL debut during his call-up.
