  • Cole Clayton D | VAN

Sharks' Cole Clayton: Signs with San Jose

Clayton signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Tuesday.

Clayton entered free agency after not getting a qualifying offer from the Blue Jackets. In 2024-25, he had 15 points in 63 regular-season games with AHL Cleveland. Clayton has yet to make his NHL debut and doesn't have an obvious path to a bottom-four role heading into 2025-26 with the Sharks, so expect him to spend much of the year with AHL San Jose.

  • Caleb Jones D | PIT

Penguins' Caleb Jones: Signs in Pittsburgh

Jones signed a two-year, $1.8 million contract with the Penguins on Tuesday.

Jones struggled to get into the lineup for the Kings last year, appearing in just six regular-season games. He also logged 21 points in 44 regular-season outings with AHL Ontario. Jones will be in the mix for bottom-four minutes on the Penguins' blue line, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him spend some time with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton if his performance slips.

  • Devils' Calen Addison: Gets two-way deal from New Jersey

Addison signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Devils on Tuesday.

Addison was unable to secure an NHL deal in 2024-25, playing on an AHL-only contract. He earned 36 points over 62 regular-season AHL games with Henderson and Springfield, which showcases his offensive upside. However, the Devils have plenty of blueliners on their NHL roster and better prospects to turn to before Addison, so he should be expected to spend much of 2025-26 with AHL Utica.

  • Devils' Dennis Cholowski: Receives one-way contract

Cholowski signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with New Jersey on Tuesday.

Cholowski had three goals, seven assists, 30 shots on net and 33 blocked shots across 39 regular-season outings between New Jersey and the Islanders in 2024-25. The 27-year-old will probably be a depth defender for the Devils in 2025-26, but he may not be a regular in the lineup.

  • Mike Reilly D | CAR

Hurricanes' Mike Reilly: Signs one-year contract

Reilly agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with Carolina on Tuesday.

Reilly collected two assists, 31 shots on goal and 14 blocked shots in 18 regular-season appearances with the Islanders in 2024-25. The 31-year-old defender may not be a regular in the lineup for the Hurricanes in 2025-26, but he will provide the team with some additional depth.

  • Oilers' Riley Stillman: Depth signing for Edmonton

Stillman signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Oilers on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.

Stillman made five regular-season appearances in 2024-25 with the Hurricanes, but he failed to record a point while averaging a mere 7:11 of ice time. The Oilers have far less defensive depth than his old team, but Stillman will likely spend a majority of 2025-26 with AHL Bakersfield. He has limited scoring upside after producing just nine points in 35 AHL regular-season contests last year.

  • Scott Morrow D | NYR

Rangers' Scott Morrow: Heading north in trade

Morrow was traded to the Rangers from the Hurricanes on Tuesday, along with a conditional first-round pick and a second-round pick in 2026, in exchange for K'Andre Miller (upper body), per PuckPedia.

Morrow is a high-end defensive prospect, but the Hurricanes appear fine to part with him to get a more NHL-ready player in Miller. The 22-year-old Morrow should have plenty of opportunity in training camp to establish himself as a top-four option and a power-play candidate with the Rangers. He has earned six points over 16 NHL regular-season contests across the last two campaigns.

  • Bruins' Jordan Harris: Lands one-year deal

Harris signed a one-year, $825,000 contract with Boston on Tuesday.

Harris accounted for one goal, four assists, 15 shots on net, 35 blocked shots and 23 hits in 33 regular-season appearances with Columbus in 2024-25. He will compete for a depth role with the Bruins during training camp ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

  • Hurricanes' K'Andre Miller: Involved in sign-and-trade

Miller (upper body) signed an eight-year, $60 million contract Tuesday and was traded to the Hurricanes from the Rangers in exchange for a first-round and a second-round pick in 2026 and Scott Morrow, per PuckPedia.

The Rangers' remodeling continues, with Miller out the door to a division rival after the sign-and-trade deal. Miller has emerged as a top-four option early in his career, but the Hurricanes' intensity in their own zone should still provide him a challenge while playing to his strengths as a physical force. The 25-year-old is recovering from an upper-body surgery and may miss part of training camp, but he's poised to be a key part of the Hurricanes' lineup for years to come.

  • Canucks' Jimmy Schuldt: Taking talents to Vancouver

Schuldt has joined the Canucks on a two-year, two-way contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Schuldt played eight games with the Sharks in the NHL last year, but he spent the bulk of the season with AHL San Jose, posting six goals and 15 assists in 61 regular-season appearances. With nine career NHL games under his belt, the 30-year-old will hope to add to that total this coming season, but he'll likely need to bide his time in the minors before he could potentially get that chance.
