Devils' Nico Daws: Hits waivers for AHL assignment
Daws was placed on waivers by the Devils for the purpose of assignment to AHL Utica, the team announced Sunday.
Daws got into six regular-season games with New Jersey last year, but with Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen on the roster and healthy, Daws was never expected to be in the NHL to start 2025-26. Assuming he clears waivers, the 24-year-old Daws is slated to begin the season with AHL Utica, where he went 11-20-3 with a 3.16 GAA and an .893 save percentage across 34 appearances last year.

DiPietro was excellent with Providence last year, going 26-8-7 with a 2.05 GAA and a .927 save percentage across 40 regular-season outings. The Bruins will try to sneak him through waivers, but he's got a chance to be claimed by a goalie-needy team in a busy day of waivers around the league.

Kaapo Kahkonen G | MON
Canadiens' Kaapo Kahkonen: Hits waivers for AHL assignment
Kahkonen was placed on waivers by the Canadiens for the purpose of assignment to AHL Laval, the team announced Sunday.

Kahkonen also got into 36 outings in the AHL last year between his stints with Colorado, Charlotte and Manitoba. Assuming he clears waivers, 29-year-old might end up back in the NHL if Sam Montembeault or Jakub Dobes sustain an injury at any point during the season.
