Tyler Nevin 3B | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Nevin: On bench Friday
Nevin (migraine) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays.
Nevin was scratched from Wednesday's game against the White Sox due to a migraine. After Thursday's team off day, he remains out of the starting nine. Considering Nevin had started in merely one of the Athletics' previous six games, his absence from the lineup perhaps isn't related to Wednesday's migraine.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Taking dry swings
Walker (oblique) is not yet asymptomatic, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Walker, who landed on the 10-day injured list July 30 with a left oblique strain, could pick up a bat next week. The Diamondbacks are cognizant that oblique injuries are tricky for a baseball player and want Walker to be 100 percent before really ramping up. Arizona is getting by at first base with trade deadline acquisition Josh Bell, so the team doesn't need to rush Walker back.

The single also snapped an 0-for-19 skid for Goldschmidt, and he's batting a putrid .154 (4-for-26) to begin August with one homer, four RBI and two runs scored.

Giants' Mark Canha: Collects four hits, drives in two
Canha went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBI Thursday against the Nationals.
Canha made his biggest impact since being acquired by the Giants, driving in two and collecting his first four-hit game since 2022 while a member of the Mets. It was Alonso's second multi-homer game of the season and his fourth game with at least three RBI. The slugging first baseman is now slashing .246/.331/.476 with 51 extra-base hits including 25 homers, 63 RBI, 67 runs and 49 walks across 493 plate appearances.

Justin Turner DH | CHC
Mariners' Justin Turner: Reaches twice in return from injury
Turner (hand) started at first base in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers and went 1-for-3 with a walk.
The veteran infielder was able to avoid missing any games after getting plunked on his left hand in Tuesday's game. Turner snapped a brief 0-for-6 skid that had encompassed his previous two contests with Wednesday's production, and he boasts a .362 average and .913 OPS across 15 games since the All-Star break, with six of those games coming with the Mariners.
