  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Homers in four-hit effort

Freeman went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.

Freeman's homer was his first in the last seven games. He's hit safely in 19 straight contests, going 35-for-77 (.455) with 18 extra-base hits in that span. The first baseman is playing even better than his usual high standard, and his weeks-long hot stretch has him up to a .344/.416/.589 slash line with 10 homers, 35 RBI, 47 runs scored and six stolen bases through 56 games overall.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Giants' Matt Beaty: Removed from 40-man roster

Beatty was designated for assignment by the Giants on Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Beaty was removed from the 40-man roster to create room for Luke Jackson. In 103 at-bats with Triple-A Sacramento, Beaty has hit .272 with four homers and an .853 OPS. If he goes unclaimed, Beaty will like remain in Triple-A as a depth piece.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Pirates' Carlos Santana: Remains out Tuesday

Santana (back) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Santana left Sunday's loss to the Mariners with a back injury, and while it's not expected to be a long-term issue, the veteran infielder will miss at least one more game while recovering. Connor Joe will be the first baseman in Santana's absence and hit third.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Takes seat Tuesday

Diaz isn't starting Tuesday against the Cubs, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz is 5-for-17 with a homer and three RBI since returning to Tampa Bay's lineup Friday. He'll get a breather Tuesday as Luke Raley picks up a start at first base while batting seventh.

  • Matt Mervis 1B | WAS

Cubs' Matt Mervis: Sitting amid struggles

Mervis is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Rays.

Mervis has gone 0-for-11 with five strikeouts over his last four games and is slashing just .194/.275/.306 through his first 69 major-league plate appearances. Trey Mancini will start at first base for the Cubs on Tuesday and Christopher Morel will serve as the designated hitter.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Returns to lineup Tuesday

Bohm (hamstring) is back in the lineup Tuesday versus the Mets.

Bohm sat out of Sunday's series finale in Atlanta due to hamstring tightness, but it has proven to be a minor issue. He'll handle third base and bat sixth Tuesday against the Mets and right-hander Kodai Senga.

  • Darick Hall 1B | PIT

Phillies' Darick Hall: Cleared for rehab games

Hall (thumb) is beginning a rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Clearwater.

Hall will likely require a significant number of tuneup at-bats in the minors given that he's been sidelined since the first week of April because of a torn ligament in his right thumb. However, he's been cleared again for live competition and is about ready to offer the Phillies much-needed help at first base. Hall is first eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list June 5.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Sitting out again Tuesday

Rizzo (neck) will remain out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said in an interview on the Talkin' Yanks podcast.

The team had initially expressed confidence Rizzo wouldn't miss any starts after he exited Sunday's game versus the Padres with a neck injury, but he'll now be out of the lineup for a second straight day. Boone didn't reveal what his full lineup would be, so it's not yet clear who will be playing first base in Rizzo's place.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Power picking up

Vaughn went 2-for-3 with a solo home run Monday against the Angels.

Vaughn took Griffin Canning deep in the fourth inning to tally his seventh homer of the season and second in his last four games. While his power production had been lagging, Vaughn has had a productive second half of May, recording at least one hit in 10 of his last 13 starts while hitting .271 with seven RBI and eight runs scored in that span. Overall, he now has a .180 ISO, the highest mark of his three-year career.

  • Evan White 1B | LAA

Mariners' Evan White: Out at least three months

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said he expects White to miss a minimum of three months after undergoing surgery on his left hip May 22, MLB.com reports. "The surgery released the tendon that was impinging his joint and also cleaned up significant scar tissue in and around the hip area," Hollander said. "It will obviously be a lengthy rehab process. I would say three months minimum for him to be back out on a baseball field in some sort of rehab-type activity."

White appears to be headed for another lost season after he required another procedure on the same hip he had surgically repaired in 2021. The 27-year-old is expected to head to the Mariners' spring training complex in Arizona later this week to begin what will likely be an arduous rehab process. The Mariners won't have a more specific timeline for White's return until he gets further along in his rehab, but Hollander's comments suggest the first baseman won't be ready to return from the 60-day injured list until September at the earliest. White had previously been shelved after suffering a Grade 2 left groin strain while playing for Triple-A Tacoma on April 1, with the Mariners later determining after follow-up tests that he needed another hip surgery.
