  • Henry Godbout 2B | BOS

Red Sox's Henry Godbout: Returns from IL, heads to Double-A

Godbout (hand) has gone 0-for-9 with three strikeouts over his first two games at Double-A Portland since being assigned to the affiliate Tuesday after being reinstated from High-A Greenville's 60-day injured list.

Godbout slashed .277/.410/.492 with seven home runs and two stolen bases over 34 games with Greenville before hitting the shelf June 2 after fracturing his left hand and requiring surgery. The 23-year-old shortstop kicked off a rehab assignment at Single-A Salem on July 31, and after playing in five games in the Carolina League, the Red Sox decided that he was ready to make his Double-A debut.

  • Cole Young 2B | SEA

Mariners' Cole Young: Absent from Seattle lineup

Young (head) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Young was removed from Wednesday's contest due to dizziness. He's no longer experiencing dizziness but is still not feeling great, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. With southpaw Max Fried on the bump for the Yankees, it make sense to give the left-handed-hitting Young a day off. Brendan Donovan is sliding over to second base, and Weston Wilson will play third base for the Mariners.

  • Athletics' Jonathan Ornelas: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Athletics outrighted Ornelas to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Ornelas has been outrighted previously, so he has the ability to elect free agency. If he does decide to stick around, the 26-year-old will provide the Athletics with some infield depth at Las Vegas.

  • Angel Genao 2B | CLE

Guardians' Angel Genao: Replaces teammate against lefty

Genao started at second base and went 1-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 win over Detroit.

Genao replaced the primary second baseman, Travis Bazzana, for the second time in the last three games in which the Guardians faced a left-handed starter. Bazzana has a .192./.306/.240 slash line over 121 plate appearances against lefties. The switch-hitting Genao logged an .881 OPS against left-handers while with Triple-A Columbus prior to his call-up to Cleveland.

  • Oswald Peraza 2B | LAA

Angels' Oswald Peraza: Exits with bruised hand

Peraza was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rangers with a left hand contusion.

Peraza took a 95-mph fastball off his hand during the sixth inning and was replaced on defense at the start of the seventh. He seems to have escaped the incident with nothing more than a bruise, but the Angels could still keep him on the bench for a day or two while he deals with lingering soreness.

  • Chase Meidroth 2B | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Homers in return to lineup

Meidroth went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Reds.

Meidroth sat out two games while battling a sore left wrist. It didn't seem to be much of a concern when he went deep in the sixth inning to give the White Sox some breathing room. Meidroth has gone 10-for-30 (.333) with three homers and eight RBI over his eight games in August. On the year, he's batting .276 with a .763 OPS, 12 homers, 48 RBI, 68 runs scored, 21 doubles and two stolen bases over 114 contests.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Swipes bag in win

Clement went 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBI, one run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Red Sox.

Clement drove in runs in the second and eighth innings while also adding his fifth stolen base of the season. The 30-year-old has tallied four RBI over his past four games, though he's posted a lowly .469 OPS through 12 August contests. For the year, he's slashing .282/.306/.406 with nine homers, 46 RBI, 50 runs scored and five steals across 480 plate appearances.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Homers in loss Wednesday

Torres went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Guardians.

Torres was the only Detroit player with multiple hits and he also delivered his eighth home run of the season in the third inning, which gave the Tigers a short-lived 3-2 lead. The veteran infielder batted leadoff for the first time since Aug. 2, with Kevin McGonigle sliding down from first to third in the lineup against lefty Foster Griffin. Whether he's batting leadoff or not, Torres should regularly occupy a spot near the top of Detroit's order most days, and he should remain a steady if not spectacular fantasy performer.

  • Cole Young 2B | SEA

Mariners' Cole Young: Leaves with dizziness

Young was removed from Wednesday's game against the Yankees due to dizziness, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Young went 1-for-4 with a run scored before coming out of the game in the seventh inning. Leo Rivas would likely be next in line to start at second base if Young needs to miss additional time, but he doesn't seem to be dealing with anything that would require an IL stint.

  • Red Sox's Anthony Seigler: Shifts back into reserve role

Seigler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Seigler is back on the bench for a second straight day while the Red Sox go with Nick Sogard at second base. Prior to Tuesday, Seigler had covered the keystone in four of the Red Sox's previous five contests, but his uptick in playing time appears to have been mostly the result of Willson Contreras and Masataka Yoshida missing out on two starts apiece due to illness.
