Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Swats sixth homer

Biggio went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.

His fifth-inning blast off Gerrit Cole gave the Jays a 2-1 lead, but it was their last gasp of offense on the night. Since returning to action from a neck injury, Biggio has gone 7-for-17 (.412) with three walks, two doubles and three of his six homers on the year.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Blue Jays' Marcus Semien: Pops 16th homer

Semien went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.

He led off the bottom of the first by taking Gerrit Cole deep. Semien continues to be a bargain for the Jays on the one-year deal he signed in the offseason, and he's on pace for a career year with 16 homers, nine steals, 38 RBI, 47 runs and an .883 OPS through 66 games.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Clubs two more homers

Altuve went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and a walk in Wednesday's win over the Rangers.

After walking off with a grand slam in Tuesday's win, Altuve came back with a leadoff homer off Jordan Lyles on Wednesday. He went deep again in the eighth inning, giving him three homers over his past two games and nine in 15 contests since May 31. Altuve's power surge has pushed him into the top 20 in MLB with 15 homers on the season, and he is also slashing .294/.363/.511 with 36 RBI, two stolen bases and 48 runs.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Launches decisive grand slam

Arroyo blasted a grand slam as a pinch hitter in Boston's 10-8 win over the Braves on Wednesday.

Arroyo didn't start the contest, but he was brought in to pinch hit for Danny Santana with the bases loaded and Boston trailing by one in the seventh inning. He came through in a big way, launching a massive 467-foot blast to left field to clear the bases and propel the Red Sox to a the win. Arroyo now has four homers and 14 RBI across 13 games in June.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Remains out of lineup

Arroyo isn't starting Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Arroyo recently drew eight consecutive starts at second base, but he'll now retreat to the bench for a second straight game. Marwin Gonzalez will start at the keystone and lead off.

  • Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Not starting Wednesday

Hernandez isn't starting Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Hernandez had returned to the leadoff spot in each of the last six games and went 4-for-25 with three doubles, three runs, three RBI and seven strikeouts during that time. Alex Verdugo will shift to center field while J.D. Martinez plays left field in a National League park.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Sent back to minors

The Red Sox optioned Chavis to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Boston was in need of an extra arm out of the bullpen after starter Eduardo Rodriguez was able to give Boston only four innings in Tuesday's 10-8 win over Atlanta, so Chavis will cede his spot on the active roster to reliever Yacksel Rios. Chavis didn't appear off the bench for Boston during his two-day stint with the club.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

Royals' Nicky Lopez: Likely to lose work to Mondesi

Lopez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

After starting at shortstop in 10 of the Royals' first 14 games of June while slashing a respectable .267/.389/.300, Lopez's time as an everyday player looks to be over. Adalberto Mondesi (hamstring) was limited to a bench role Tuesday after being reinstated from the injured list, but he'll handle shortstop duties Wednesday and should be able to play the position on a regular basis moving forward. Lopez will likely operate as the top backup for both Mondesi and Whit Merrifield in the middle infield.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

Athletics' Elvis Andrus: Surge continues in win

Andrus went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and another two-bagger in a win over the Angels on Tuesday.

The veteran has seemingly regained his confidence at the plate after a season-plus of considerable struggles, with Tuesday's multi-hit effort extending his on-base streak to nine games and pushing his June slash line to an impressive .304/.373/.457 across 13 games. Andrus has laced seven doubles during that stretch alone, but he remains without a home run through 231 plate appearances on the season.
