  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Steals base in win

Rojas started at second base and went 0-for-3 with a walk, stolen base and run scored in Monday's 7-5 win over the Rockies.

Rojas filled in at the keystone for a resting Ketel Marte. He was part of a double steal in the second inning immediately before Pavin Smith's three-run home run gave Arizona a lead it would not relinquish. The steal was the sixth in 44 games for Rojas, who had 23 thefts over 125 games in 2022. He's recently been moved out of the leadoff spot to sixth in the order, where he's 2-for-12. Rojas had a hot three-week stretch to open the season but is slashing .175/.261/.250 over the last 27 games.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Plans to play Tuesday

McNeil (groin) said he expects to return to the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

McNeil was on the bench for Sunday's 11-10 loss to the Rockies while he tended to a tight groin, but he felt well enough to enter the contest as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and singled in his lone at-bat before coming around to score. With a team off day Monday, McNeil looks like he'll be ready to return to a starting role Tuesday, presumably either at second base or in the corner outfield.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Takes seat against lefty

Wisely is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

The lefty-hitting rookie has been serving as the primary replacement at second base for the injured Thairo Estrada (wrist) of late, but he'll take a seat for the series opener with Pittsburgh bringing southpaw Rich Hill to the mound. Casey Schmitt will check in for Wisely at the keystone.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Steals seventh bag

Kim went 1-for-2 with two walks, three runs and a stolen base in a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.

Kim reached base three times in the contest, the seventh time he has accomplished that feat this season. He also notched a campaign-high three runs and stole his seventh base. Kim notched a career-high 12 thefts last season, so he is well above pace to exceed that mark this year.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Getting rest Monday

Marte is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.

Marte is likely receiving a routine day off after starting at second base in each of Arizona's last nine games and producing at least one hit in the last eight contests to bring his season average up to .282. Josh Rojas will slide over from third base to fill in for the resting Marte at the keystone.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Nationals' Michael Chavis: On base three times in rare start

Chavis went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Royals.

Getting the start at third base and hitting seventh, Chavis delivered his first multi-hit performance of the season and drove in his second run. The 27-year-old has seen little action off the Nationals' bench this season, but over 15 appearances he's batting .290 (9-for-31) while mainly getting used against left-handed pitching.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

    Brewers' Owen Miller: X-rays negative

Miller (forearm) underwent X-rays that came back negative Sunday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Miller exited Sunday's game against the Giants with a bruised right forearm, and further testing didn't reveal any structural damage. He's considered day-to-day for now, and manager Craig Counsell hopes Miller will be able to return to action for Tuesday's series opener in Toronto.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Brewers' Owen Miller: Leaves early with forearm bruise

Miller was removed ahead of the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Giants with a bruised right forearm, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI prior to departing.

The Brewers are describing Miller's removal as precautionary after he was able to take his base upon being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning, then proceeded to play an inning in the field before exiting the contest. After submitting another two-hit effort prior to being lifted from the contest, Miller is now slashing an impressive .330/.371/.513 on the season. With the Brewers off Monday, Miller will get an extra day to recover before the team returns to action Tuesday in Toronto.

  • Alan Trejo SS | COL

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Retreats to bench

Trejo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

Trejo started at second base in each of the last three games and went 5-for-10 with three doubles, a walk, two RBI, a run and a stolen base, but he still looks as though he'll be limited to a utility infield role. Harold Castro is back at his normal spot at the keystone Sunday after previously starting in the outfield during the past two contests.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Tending to tight groin

Mets manager Buck Showalter said McNeil is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies due to groin tightness, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

McNeil picked up the injury at some point during the Mets' 10-7 loss Saturday, when he went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs while playing all eight innings in the field. Eduardo Escobar will step in at second base Sunday in place of McNeil, who will get at least two full days of rest before the Mets return to action Tuesday versus the Phillies following Monday's team off day.
