  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Edman is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Mets on Wednesday.

Edman is out of the lineup for a second straight game, with Enrique Hernandez starting at the keystone and batting ninth. Edman has gone 9-for-37 with one steal, eight runs scored, one home run and three RBI over his last 10 games.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Batting leadoff Wednesday

Torres is starting at second base and batting first in Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Torres had settled into the No. 2 position in the order recently with Parker Meadows returning from the injured list and taking over leadoff duties, but the latter is getting a breather Wednesday after two straight starts, which pushes Torres up a spot. The veteran infielder has been steady with a .272/.388/.405 slash line through 49 games with his new team.

  • Max Muncy SS | ATH

Athletics' Max Muncy: Back in majors

The Athletics recalled Muncy from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

The A's optioned Muncy to Triple-A in late April after he began the season slashing .176/.211/.279 through 71 plate appearances in the majors. Since being sent down, he's turned things around offensively to the tune of a .901 OPS, which is good enough for him to get another shot with the big club. CJ Alexander was optioned to Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Moves back to reserve role

Sosa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Sosa made five straight starts to close out last week, but he's moved back into a reserve role for the first two games of the Phillies' series in Toronto with Bryce Harper returning to the lineup Tuesday after missing time due to a bruised elbow. With Philadelphia back to full strength, Sosa is expected to see most of his starting opportunities against left-handed pitching moving forward as a replacement at second base for Bryson Stott.

  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Losing work after Melton promotion

Dubon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Dubon seemed to have settled in as the Astros' primary option at second base to close out May, but the promotion of outfielder Jacob Melton over the weekend appears to have indirectly cost Dubon his spot in the team's everyday lineup. With the Astros having thus far opened up regular role for Melton in the outfield, Jose Altuve has moved to second base for three of his past four games, resulting in Dubon hitting the bench for three of those contests.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Getting Wednesday off

Gonzales is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Gonzales appears to be getting a pre-planned rest day after he made his return from the 60-day injured list Tuesday. Playing for the Pirates for the first time since Opening Day after completing his recovery from a non-displaced fractured left ankle, Gonzales went 1-for-3 at the dish in Pittsburgh's 3-0 loss in the series opener. Adam Frazier will get the nod at second base Wednesday, but Gonzales should see the bulk of the playing time at the position now that he's healthy again.

  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Lands on IL with hip injury

The White Sox placed Sosa on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right hip flexor strain.

Sosa injured his hip during Monday's loss to the Tigers, per Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times. He expects to be activated when first eligible June 13, but the ultimate decision lies with the White Sox. For whatever length of time Sosa is sidelined, Tim Elko -- who was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move -- could benefit from a near-everyday role with the White Sox.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

    Nationals' Luis Garcia: Idle Wednesday

Garcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia has started in each of the last seven games, and the Cubs are sending a left-hander (Matthew Boyd) to the hill, so Nationals manager Dave Martinez likely decided it was an ideal time to give the second baseman a night off. Nasim Nunez will cover the keystone in Garcia's stead.

  • Giants' Christian Koss: Sent to Triple-A

The Giants optioned Koss to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Koss has slashed just .219/.275/.266 this season and had seen limited playing time recently. He should see more regular reps at Sacramento as a utility infielder.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers, reaches three times

Gorman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Royals.

Gorman started at designated hitter in what was his first time in the lineup in a week and immediately made his presence felt with a two-run blast off Michael Lorenzen in his first plate appearance. With Alec Burleson playing the outfield while Jordan Walker (wrist) is sidelined, Gorman could see more action in the DH spot in the immediate future, although that would require Ivan Herrera being used more frequently at catcher.
