Orioles' Joey Ortiz: Called up Wednesday

Ortiz was called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

Ortiz will return to the big leagues after being sent down May 26. The shortstop has produced a .259 average with a double, four RBI and four runs scored over 27 at-bats over 11 games with Baltimore this season. Ortiz continues to rake at Triple-A, batting .328 with 18 extra-base hits over 128 at-bats in 32 games, and he'll look to stick this time around with the Orioles. In order to make room on the major-league roster, Mark Kolozsvary was optioned to Norfolk on Wednesday.

  • David Villar 1B | SF

Giants' David Villar: Returns to majors

The Giants recalled Villar from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. He'll start at third base and bat eighth in the Giants' series finale in St. Louis, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Villar will return to the major-league roster after being sent down May 30. The 26-year-old has struggled to a .135 average with four home runs, 11 RBI, 10 runs scored and a stolen base in 32 games with the Giants this season. With J.D. Davis (ankle) potentially set for a stint on the injured list, Villar could get another look as a regular in the San Francisco lineup.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Two hits, homer off bench

Biggio went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles.

Biggio is now 4-for-6 with a pair of home runs in his last two games after going 1-for-12 in his previous six contests. The 28-year-old Biggio has primarily served in a utility role for Toronto this season, though he's seen his playing time tick up a bit with Brandon Belt (hamstring) on the IL. Through 109 plate appearances this year, Biggio is slashing .202/.275/.404 with six homers, 17 runs scored, 12 RBI and two steals.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Orioles' Adam Frazier: Homers again Tuesday

Frazier went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's victory over Toronto.

The veteran second baseman now has two home runs over his last three games, giving him eight for the season -- just two shy of his career high. Frazier's now slashing .236/.300/.410 with 33 runs scored, 31 RBI and six steals through 235 plate appearances this season.

  • Zack Short 3B | DET

Tigers' Zack Short: On bench for matinee game

Short is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with Atlanta.

Andy Ibanez will step in at the keystone in place of Short, who went 5-for-19 with a double and five RBI while starting at second base in five of the Tigers' previous six games. Short will most likely be back in the lineup for the nightcap.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Homers as part of three-hit day

Stott went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 15-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Stott added on to the Phillies' lead with a solo blast to right-center field to make it a 7-0 ballgame. He notched his third multi-hit effort over his last four games and is slashing .364/.429/.500 with five RBI, six runs and a 4:9 BB:K in 12 games since May 31. Stott has maintained a healthy average throughout the course of the season thus far but was replaced in the leadoff spot earlier this month by Kyle Schwarber, with manager Rob Thompson looking to spark the offense. Schwarber has picked things up lately, but Stott could be given another shot to lead off if Schwarber's struggles return.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Mariners' Jose Caballero: Tallies three RBI, two steals

Caballero went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, three RBI and two steals in Tuesday's win over the Marlins.

Cabellero's big hit of the night came in the sixth when he swatted a bases-clearing triple to left to put the Mariners up 8-1. He also notched multiple steals for the second time this season and is up to nine steals thus far. The 26-year-old rookie has been sneaky good in 40 games since being called up. He's slashing .253/.407/.379 with two homers, 16 RBI, 16 runs and an 18:23 BB:K over 123 plate appearances.

  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Cranks home run Tuesday

Dubon went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Dubon got the Astros on the board in the fifth, leading off the inning with a solo blast to left. He now has two home runs in June after it took him 38 games to hit his first long ball of the year. Dubon has picked up a hit in nine of his last 11 games and is slashing .320/.327/.500 with five extra-base knocks, six RBI, seven runs and a 1:4 BB:K over that span. He's maintained a healthy average throughout the course of the season and still has been getting looks out of the leadoff spot despite the return of Jose Altuve.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Scores three runs Tuesday

Hoerner went 1-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 11-3 win over the Pirates.

Hoerner stole his 15th base of the season in the contest, good for sixth in the National League. The swipe was just his third in 23 games since returning from a hamstring injury May 19. The 26-year-old is hitting .262 with just one extra-base hit in 11 games this month.

  • David Villar 1B | SF

Giants' David Villar: Removed from Triple-A game

Villar was removed from the lineup by Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday in the fourth inning, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com.

Villar's removal is all but assuredly related to J.D. Davis (undisclosed) exiting with an injury against the Cardinals on Tuesday. The infielder would likely serve in a utility role if and when he receives a promotion come Wednesday.
