  • Gleyber Torres 2B | NYY

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Continues hot stretch Friday

Torres went 3-for-5 with a double Friday in a loss to Boston.

Though no runs resulted from Torres' three knocks, it was nonetheless another positive performance by the second baseman. Torres has consecutive multi-hit efforts and has at least one hit in 11 of his past 13 contests overall. During that stretch, he's slashing .348/.423/.543 with a pair of long balls, four RBI and five runs while bringing his season batting average up from .221 to .237.

  • Justin Foscue DH | TEX

    Rangers' Justin Foscue: Sitting Saturday

Foscue is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto.

Foscue will get a breather Saturday after going 0-for-4 in Friday's 6-5 loss to Toronto. Jonah Heim will serve as the designated hitter Saturday and bat seventh against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Remains hot Friday

Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in Friday's 6-4 victory versus the Orioles.

Bogaerts belted a big double in the sixth inning, driving in Manny Machado to give San Diego its first lead. The second baseman finished with his seventh multi-hit performance over his past nine contests, a span in which he's slashing .500/.526/.528. Bogaerts has raised his season batting average from .219 to .265 with the hot stretch, though he has only two RBI during that span and hasn't gone deep in any of his past 14 games.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Big day in Friday's win

Garcia went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored, three RBI and two stolen bases in Friday's extra-inning win over the Cardinals.

He opened the scoring on the night with a two-run double in the second inning, then played a role in the Nationals' four-run outburst in the top of the 10th by walking, stealing second and eventually coming home on Jacob Young's bases-loaded triple. Garcia continues to add to his career highs in multiple categories, including 11 homers and 15 stolen bases in 89 games to go along with a .278/.310/.441 slash line.

  • Jorge Polanco 2B | SEA

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Belts seventh homer in win

Polanco went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run in a win over the White Sox on Friday.

Polanco provided the final run of the night for the Mariners, belting a 421-foot shot to left center in the fourth inning with Cal Raleigh aboard. The veteran infielder was one of several struggling Seattle bats to snap out of slumps with big hits Friday, and he's now left the yard twice in his last five games.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | MIN

Twins' Edouard Julien: Optioned to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Julien to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.

The loss of Carlos Correa (heel) prompted Julien's promotion from Triple-A last Saturday, and he'll now return to the minors as Jose Miranda (back) returns from the injured list. During his latest stint with the Twins, Julien went 2-for-12 with eight strikeouts over five games. He's had an easier time at St. Paul, posting a .780 OPS through 165 plate appearances on the year, though he still has yet to find the same offensive groove that he enjoyed in 2023.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | CLE

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Picks up 16th steal

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-1 win over the Phillies.

Gimenez had a solid night as he matched his hit total from his previous six games. The 25-year-old has 27 multi-hit games this season but just two over his last 16 appearances. Gimenez has also struggled as a runner of late, with just two stolen bases in his last 26 games. The second baseman is hitting .248 with a .632 OPS through 96 games this season.

  • Giants' Thairo Estrada: Lands on IL

The Giants placed Estrada on the 10-day injured list Friday with a sprained left wrist.

Estrada landed on the injured list in late June due to a left wrist sprain, and the same injury will now force him back onto the IL roughly one month later. He was able to return to the active roster after 11 days following his previous IL stint, though it's unclear if he'll require a longer absence this time around. Casey Schmitt was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to provide infield depth, and he'll likely split reps at second base with Brett Wisely until Estrada returns.

  • Mac Horvath 2B | TB

Rays' Mac Horvath: Sent to Tampa Bay

The Rays acquired Horvath, Jackson Baumeister and Matthew Etzel from the Orioles on Friday in exchange for starting pitcher Zach Eflin, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Horvath was selected 53rd overall by the Orioles in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft and got his first taste of professional action last year with a 1.058 OPS in 22 games across rookie ball, Single-A Delmarva and High-A Aberdeen. The 22-year-old is back at the High-A level this year and has a .232/.328/.417 slash line in 71 games.

  • Nicky Lopez 2B | CHW

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: On bench Friday

Lopez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Even with right-hander George Kirby on the mound for Seattle, Lopez will take a seat. Brooks Baldwin will play second base while Paul DeJong fills in at shortstop.
