Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon is out of the lineup for the third consecutive game while rehabbing with Double-A Harrisburg, according to FoxSports.com. Rendon, who was initially recovering from a sprained MCL, is now dealing with an oblique injury that has caused a rather significant setback. An updated timetable for Rendon's return has not been made available. 

Rendon is in Washington DC to visit with the team doctor, according to MASNSports.com. He is considered day-to-day. 

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura had a CT scan, after getting hit in the head by a pitch in Sunday's game. 

General manager Gord Ash said that the results of the CT were negative, per the Journal Sentinel. The team will make a decision on Segura's status later in the day on Monday. 

Nationals manager Matt Williams was hoping infielder Anthony Rendon could return to the lineup by the end of the week, but those plans appear to be on hold after he was scratched again from the Double-A Harrisburg lineup on Saturday, per MLB.com.

Rendon, who returned to the lineup Friday after missing a few games due to tightness in his side, was unable to get loose Saturday, according to a team spokesman.

“Anthony is day to day,” Williams said after Saturday’s game, per The Washington Post. “It’s going to be that way as he goes. [Saturday], he couldn’t get [his side] as loose as he wanted to.”

Rendon originally went on the disabled list to begin the season because of a sprained left MCL. However, in a bit of good news, Williams said Rendon's knee is OK.

Nolan Arenado connected for two home runs off Padres starter James Shields on Sunday in the Rockies' loss on Sunday. 

Arenado launched a solo homer in the fourth inning and a two-run shot in the fifth. 

"I watched a lot of video of (James Shields), and he's a good pitcher," Arenado said to the Denver Post. "I just went up there and tried to hit the ball hard. He made me look foolish in that first at-bat. He wanted to throw a good changeup on that first homer, but he didn't put it (where) he wanted, and I took advantage of it."

He has now homered three times in his last three games, pushing his season total to six.

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura appears to be alright after taking a 95-mph fastball to the head in Sunday's game against the Cubs, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Segura left the game after the at-bat to be further evaluated. It was the second time this season Segura has been hit in the head.

"He's doing pretty good, but we're going to get him over to a doctor here to make sure that they see the same things our guys are seeing," manager Ron Roenicke said. "So we'll have him checked out here and then have a car for him to get back to Milwaukee tonight."

Roenicke hopes Segura is able to remain the same hitter at the plate after the second scare.

"Yeah, that's two in the helmet. That's not a good thing,” said Roenicke. "You hope a guy doesn't get a little tentative in what he's doing. He does such a nice job doing the things we ask that you hope it doesn't start to bother him."

Pirates first baseman Pedro Alvarez went 1 for 2 at the plate with four walks in Pittsburgh's 3-2 loss to the Cardinals in 14 innings on Sunday.

Alvarez did his damage in the 12th inning when he took a Samuel Tuivailala pitch over the right field wall for a solo shot, his fifth of the season. Alvarez is now hitting .227 with 12 RBI in 75 at-bats this year.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe went 3 for 5 at the plate with five RBI in Minnesota' 13-3 win over the White Sox on Sunday.

Plouffe did his damage in the third when he crushed a 1-1 pitch from John Danks over the left field wall for a grand slam, his fifth home run of the season. Plouffe then singled to center in the fourth to drive home Joe Mauer.

Plouffe is now hitting .278 with 15 RBI in 90 at-bats this season.

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura was hit in the head with a pitch during Sunday's game in Chicago against the Cubs and has left the game, the team has announced.

Segura initially took his base at first but then called timeout and exited.

Hector Gomez replaced him as a pinch runner.

Segura was 0 for 3 with a strikeout before leaving.

The Twins left three starters out of Sunday's starting lineup. 

Catcher Kurt Suzuki goes to the bench, with Chris Herrmann getting his second start in five games. Herrmann is batting eighth in the lineup. 

Left fielder Eduardo Escobar is out of the lineup after four straight starts. Oswaldo Arcia returns to left, batting sixth. 

Center fielder Jordan Schafer also gets a rest, with Shane Robinson making his tenth start in center and batting seventh. 

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado recently committed six errors in a string of nine games before playing error-free ball Saturday, and manager Buck Showalter remains confident the young infielder will learn from his defensive miscues, MASN Sports reports.

"I think it's kind of good for both us and him," Showalter said. "One, to remind ourselves just how good he is there, because it shocks you when he makes a miscue. And it's also kind of good for Manny to realize that it's a product of a lot of hard work and also getting set up properly and doing some things. I can tell how frustrated he is with it, because he starts swinging the bat a lot better and then all of a sudden he has a couple of miscues."

Machado could have been charged with two errors Friday, but a ball that scooted under his glove was ruled a hit.

"He probably should have had two errors (Friday) night," Showalter said. "That was scored poorly. But he'll learn from it. And I actually look on the positive side of it that's it's something that Manny, believe me, will pay attention to."

Machado has hit .247/.322/.455 with four home runs, 12 RBI and three stolen bases in 77 at-bats.
