The Tigers selected Short's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

With Javier Baez (ankle) and Zach McKinstry (hip) on the injured list and Gleyber Torres (side) considered day-to-day, Short will help restore depth in the Detroit infield until the team reclaims some health. • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

Angels' Yoan Moncada: Taking seat again Sunday

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

The Angels will keep Moncada on the bench for the second straight matchup with a right-handed pitcher, as Oswald Peraza will get the nod at third base against Mets righty Clay Holmes in the series finale. Manager Kurt Suzuki hasn't indicated that Moncada is on shaky ground atop the depth chart, as the skipper may have just wanted to reward Peraza with another start after a three-hit effort in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning win.

  • Kyle Karros 3B | COL

Rockies' Kyle Karros: Spectating with righty on mound

Karros is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

Karros will hit the bench for the second time in the series, with both of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Reds' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Taking seat Sunday

Hayes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Hayes will hit the bench for the second time in the past four games. The 29-year-old's .119/.278/.190 slash line through 90 plate appearances this season may finally be costing him playing time, although his expected stats (including a .237 xBA and .416 xSLG) aren't as dire. Sal Stewart is getting a look at third base Sunday while Spencer Steer starts at first base.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Handed first day off of 2026

Henderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Henderson had started in each of the Orioles' first 33 games of the season and hit a bit of a rough patch with six strikeouts over his last three contests, prompting manager Craig Albernaz to give the star shortstop his first day off of 2026. With lefty Max Fried on the mound for the Yankees, the Orioles will go with an all right-handed-hitting lineup that includes Blaze Alexander as Henderson's replacement at shortstop.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Records first stolen base in win

Keith went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.

Keith tallied his first stolen base of the year as he continued his strong start from a contact perspective. The 24-year-old is now slashing .326/.360/.400 through 30 games, though he's yet to go deep and only has six RBI. Keith also isn't likely to steal many more bases, as he only had one of them in 2025, but his other counting stats should begin to tick upward if he keeps swinging a hot bat.
