  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Day off Wednesday

Devers isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Devers is getting a rare day off after he went 1-for-10 with an RBI, two walks and a strikeout over the last three games. Christian Arroyo will take over at the hot corner and bat sixth.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Angels' Matt Duffy: Sits in series finale

Duffy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Duffy will retreat to the bench for the series finale after starting at first or third base in five of the Angels' last six games while going 5-for-20 with two doubles, a walk and three RBI. Now that he's healthy again, Duffy will likely be competing with Andrew Velazquez and Mike Ford for two spots in the Angels' everyday infield.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Nursing toe injury

LeMahieu is dealing with a toe injury and is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Twins, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

LeMahieu previously sat out Monday's 5-2 win in the series opener, but he was believed to be receiving a routine maintenance day before manager Aaron Boone disclosed Wednesday that the veteran infielder was nursing the toe injury. According to Boone, LeMahieu is meeting with a specialist Wednesday, but the 34-year-old could be available in some capacity for the second game of the twin bill if he receives favorable feedback on his injury. Gleyber Torres will fill in for LeMahieu at the keystone in Game 1.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Placed on paternity list

Donaldson was placed on the paternity list Wednesday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Donaldson has been in a bit of a slump over the last week and a half, hitting just .143 with a double, two runs, an RBI, five walks and nine strikeouts over his last nine games. He'll now spend a few days away from the team following the birth of his child. DJ LeMahieu and Oswald Peraza are candidates to fill in at third base in Donaldson's absence, while Miguel Andujar will serve as the 29th man for Wednesday's doubleheader against the Twins.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Day off Wednesday

Peterson will sit Wednesday versus the Rockies.

Peterson will get a day off after he went 1-for-6 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in the first two games of the series. Luis Urias will take over at third base and bat seventh in the series finale.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: On bench against southpaw

McMahon isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

McMahon will get a day off since left-hander Eric Lauer is on the mound for Milwaukee. Elehuris Montero is stepping in at third base and batting eighth.

  • Jared Triolo 3B | PIT

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Goes on Altoona's IL

Double-A Altoona placed Triolo on its 7-day injured list Aug. 30 with a left knee injury, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

According to Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic, Triolo hyperextended the knee in an Aug. 28 game, when he stepped awkwardly on home plate. The Pirates haven't indicated whether Triolo has a realistic chance to play again this season. The injury is inconvenient timing for the 24-year-old, who had reached base in each of his last 16 games while slashing .354/.419/.646 with 10 extra-base hits and four stolen bases.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Not starting matinee

Hayes isn't starting the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Hayes returned to the lineup Tuesday against the Mets after recovering from a shoulder injury and went 1-for-3 with a run, a stolen base and a walk. He'll rest during Wednesday's matinee while Rodolfo Castro starts at the hot corner and bats third.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Swipes 15th bag

Hayes went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Mets.

The third baseman hasn't gotten going at the plate since returning from a back injury in late August, perhaps due to a newer shoulder issue, and he's hitting just .147 (5-for-34) over his last 10 games. Hayes has at least supplied a little fantasy value with a couple steals during that stretch. The 25-year-old is up to a career-high 15 stolen bases on the season to go along with a .242/.313/.346 slash line, six homers, 36 RBI and 45 runs through 113 contests.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Goes yard twice in win

Muncy went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Giants.

Muncy snapped a 13-game homer drought in the third inning with a two-run blast. He added a solo shot in the sixth for good measure, raising his season total to 18 long balls. The infielder is up to a .192/.321/.381 slash line with 54 RBI, 58 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases through 468 plate appearances, though he's now hit safely in four straight games.
