Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to an aggravated hip, MASNsports.com reports. Harper will fly to Washington D.C. and have the hip evaluated before hopefully meeting the team in New York for a four-game series against the Mets that starts Monday.

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was a late scratch from the starting lineup Saturday against the Marlins. Though the team did not announce an injury with the switch, Harper has been dealing with a hip issue and has experienced pain on his left side since slamming into the outfield wall in April.

Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera returned to action Friday night against the Royals.

Cabrera singled in a run in the second inning for his only hit of the night. He finished 1 for 3 with two walks and an RBI in a 16-2 win. He owns a .355/.447/.673 with 43 homers and 131 RBI in 490 at-bats.

Cabrera missed Wednesday's game due to an abdominal issue, but the injury wasn't considered serious. He's hitting .355/.446/.676 in 487 at-bats. 

Indians outfielder Michael Brantley has been taken out of the starting lineup Friday against the Mets. 

Brantley's wife is expected to give birth soon, and Brantley has left the team to be with her. Drew Stubbs will get the start in right while Jason Kubel shifts over to left. Stubbs is hitting .235 in 387 at-bats.

"Ever since I hit the wall, pretty much every day I feel something different," Harper said. "Or something will feel better, and then something else hurts. It’s pretty much just the left side of my body. That’s what hurts me right now." Harper added, "The last time I probably felt pretty good was that first month."

Harper received a day off Wednesday, but is expected to be back Friday. He's hitting .275/.378/.507 in 357 at-bats.

Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera was not listed among the starters for Wednesday's game in Boston. Cabrera has played just one game in September thus far due to his abdominal issue.

Cabrera may continue to sit out sporadically in order to rest that injury and make sure he's 100 percent for the playoffs. Cabrera went 0 for 4 in his return at Boston Tuesday and is batting .355 on the year with 43 homers and 130 RBI as he chases a second consecutive Triple Crown.

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper is expected to receive a day off Wednesday against the Phillies as he continues to work his way back from a hip issue, MLB.com reports.

"I think players sometimes don't want the manager to know they are getting treatment," manager Davey Johnson said. "But I need that. It's part of the information I could use to ensure that they can get through the year injury free. They might be able to play with that injury, but it might be better to take a day off and let somebody else [play]."
