Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper is expected to receive a day off Wednesday against the Phillies as he continues to work his way back from a hip issue, MLB.com reports.

"I think players sometimes don't want the manager to know they are getting treatment," manager Davey Johnson said. "But I need that. It's part of the information I could use to ensure that they can get through the year injury free. They might be able to play with that injury, but it might be better to take a day off and let somebody else [play]."

Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera returned from his lingering abdominal injury Tuesday night in Boston. Cabrera plans to remain in the lineup going forward. 

The slugger went 0 for 4 in Tuesday's loss at Boston. He's batting .355 on the season for Detroit as he attempts to pick up his second straight Triple Crown. 

Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera returned to the starting lineup Tuesday against Boston. Cabrera had been sitting out due to abdominal discomfort. 

Cabrera, who has yet to get an at-bat in September for the Tigers, is batting .358 on the season with 43 homers and 130 RBI as he chases his second consecutive Triple Crown. 

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper will attempt to play through a hip issue with less than a month remaining, according to the Washington Times. 

With about 25 games to play, Harper expects to deal with the issue at the end of the year. "I’m going to play as hard as I can and just worry about it at the end," Harper said. Davey Johnson admitted he nearly took Harper out Monday, but decided against it. He plans to play Harper Tuesday.

Harper is hitting .278/.381/.514 in 352 at-bats. 

Washington outfielder Bryce Harper has been receiving treatment for an injury to his hip recently, the Washington Times reports. Manager Davey Johnson said he found out about it Monday.

Johnson said he was "disturbed I wasn't informed."

Harper was limping during Monday's game against Philadelphia, but finished 1 for 3 with a walk. He's batting .278 on the year for the Nationals. Harper expects to play Tuesday.

"I'm fine," Harper said. "If I was hurting I'd come out of the game."

Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon had a three-hit game Monday night against the Dodgers. Blackmon doubled among his three hits.

The center fielder went 3 for 5 in the game with a run scored. He's batting .286 on the season.

Blackmon has gone 8 for 16 (.500) over his last four games for Colorado with three runs scored. He's hit in seven of his last nine contests.

Indians outfielder Michael Brantley had a solid game in a losing effort Monday night at home against the Orioles. Brantley went 3 for 4 in the contest.

With Cleveland losing 7-2, Brantley doubled but did not score a run. He added two singles and is batting .278 for the season.

The 26-year-old has hits in seven straight games. He's gone 10 for 25 over that stretch with a double, triple and three stolen bases. He has 15 swipes on the year.

Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes had a two-hit game Monday during a win over the Rangers. One of those hits left the ballpark in the 4-2 game.

Cespedes drove in a run with a solo homer, his 21st, in the second inning off starter Derek Holland. He finished 2 for 4 and is batting .231 on the year.

The 27-year-old has gone 4 for 8 in his last two games and has at least one hit in five of his last six contests. He's up to 62 runs batted in on the year for the Athletics.

Cardinals second baseman Matt Carpenter had an RBI double in four at-bats Monday against the Reds. Since Aug. 4, Carpenter is batting .345 (38 for 110) with one triple, one home run, 13 doubles and 14 RBI in 28 games.

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was able to start Monday against the Cubs after injuring his right ankle Sunday against the Braves. Stanton is batting .288 with a .591 slugging percentage, .996 OPS, five doubles, five home runs and seven RBI in his last 18 games.
