The two-way star is up to 10 long balls on the campaign, which puts him in a three-way tie for the team lead. Ohtani has added 31 RBI, 26 runs and six stolen bases along with a .292/.362/.542 slash line as a hitter.

Torrens signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Nationals.
Torrens will join the roster at Triple-A Rochester. The 27-year-old catcher slashed .250/.318/.300 over 13 major-league games earlier this season with the Cubs before then spending less than a week in the Orioles organization. He's a career .227/.289/.352 hitter in the bigs.

Canha has slashed just .227/.300/.371 through 39 games (150 plate appearances) this season. Getting on base is usually his calling card, but it hasn't happened enough this year. Tommy Pham, Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil will start across the outfield for the Mets on Thursday afternoon.

Reyes signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Thursday, Talk Nats reports.
Reyes was released by the Royals a week ago but has quickly latched on in another organization. The 27-year-old batted just .186/.231/.288 with a 36.9 percent strikeout rate during his time in Kansas City but figures to get another shot soon on a rebuilding Nats club.

Marlins' Jorge Soler: Power surge continues
Soler went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.
He crushed a MacKenzie Gore fastball to center field in the fourth inning to put the Marlins in the lead for good. Soler has gone yard in back-to-back games and has launched six of his 11 homers on the season over the last 12 contests, a stretch in which the 31-year-old is slashing .326/.404/.739 with 14 RBI.

Mets' Mark Vientos: Homers in 2023 debut
Vientos went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Rays in an extra-inning win Wednesday.
Vientos was called up from Triple-A Syracuse prior to the contest and provided a big spark in his first major-league game of the campaign, putting the Mets on the board with a game-tying two-run homer in the seventh inning. The long ball was the second of his big-league career, as he went deep once over 36 at-bats with the Mets last season. Vientos was dominating in the minors this year prior to his call-up, slashing .333/.416/.688 with 11 doubles, 13 homers and 37 RBI over 166 plate appearances.

Red Sox's Justin Turner: Homers in second straight game
Turner went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and three total runs in Wednesday's 12-3 victory over Seattle.
Turner helped Boston get off to a fast start, singling and scoring in the first inning and launching a two-run homer to left field in the second. It was the second straight game with a long ball for Turner, who didn't homer until his 16th contest this season. The veteran has been picking up steam at the plate of late, going 10-for-28 (.357) with three homers and six RBI over his past eight games.

Morel went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to the Astros.
This was Morel's first three-hit effort of the season, and he's hit safely in all eight games he's played so far. The 23-year-old is making loud contact too, with five homers and two doubles through 36 plate appearances. He's slashing .371/.389/.857 with 10 RBI, nine runs scored and a stolen base.

Buxton went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Dodgers.
Buxton got the Twins on the board in the fourth inning with a solo shot off Dylan Covey, tying the game 1-1. The 29-year-old Buxton has been on fire lately, going 7-for-18 with three extra-base hits in his last four games after going 0-for-23 in his previous seven contests. He's slashing .236/.341/.493 with nine homers, 21 RBI and four steals through 173 plate appearances this season.
