  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Connects for homer

Martinez went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and a second run scored in Monday's 14-8 loss to the Orioles.

Martinez launched his 13th home run in the second inning off Jordan Lyles. The 34-year-old outfielder/DH, who will become a free agent this offseason, is in the finishing stretch of his fifth season with Boston. It's been his least productive year with the Red Sox, and Martinez is not expected to return in 2023. Nevertheless, he's expected to start most of the final eight games of 2022.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Yankees' Matt Carpenter: Could return in a week

Manager Aaron Boone said he is hopeful Carpenter (foot) could return during the team's final series against Texas, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Boone went on to say that the Yankees are "still a ways away from having an idea if that's going to be possible or not." Carpenter has been held out of action since the beginning of August with a fracture in his left foot. If he's unable to make it back for the end of the regular season, there is still a solid chance he can return to New York's lineup at some point during its playoff run.

  • Joey Meneses DH | NYM

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Showcases power again Sunday

Meneses went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Marlins.

The 30-year-old rookie put the Nationals on the board in the top of the first inning with the two-run drive to center field. The home run was his second in as many days and his 12th since being called up from Triple-A Syracuse in early August. With a .943 OPS through his first 200 big-league plate appearances, Meneses has likely secured a full-time role for the Nationals entering the 2023 season.

  • Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Hits Triple-A IL

Triple-A Buffalo placed Horwitz on its 7-day injured list Sept. 18 with an unspecified injury.

Horwitz last appeared for Buffalo on Sept. 13 before he was shelved with the apparent injury. Since receiving a promotion from Double-A New Hampshire in early July, Horwitz has slashed .246/.361/.363 in 202 plate appearances with Buffalo.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Rays' Harold Ramirez: Adds three more hits to ledger

Ramirez went 3-for-4 in Sunday's 7-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

Ramirez has piled up nine hits over his last six games to lift his season average to .313 over 405 plate appearances. The 28-year-old isn't offering much else from a fantasy perspective (six home runs, three stolen bases, 54 RBI and 44 runs), but the excellent average alone makes him worth rostering for managers who need help in that category.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

    Mariners' Jesse Winker: X-rays negative

Winker, who left Sunday's game against the Royals with a bruised left wrist, underwent X-rays that came back negative, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Winker was replaced by a pinch runner in the fifth inning after being hit by a pitch, and he should be considered day-to-day for now. He'll be able to rest since the Mariners have a scheduled day off ahead of Tuesday's series opener against Texas.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mariners' Jesse Winker: Dealing with wrist bruise

Winker was removed from Sunday's game in Kansas City with a bruised left wrist, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Winker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded during the fifth inning and was replaced by a pinch runner. The 28-year-old should be considered day-to-day and will have Seattle's scheduled day off Monday to aid in his recovery before Tuesday's series opener versus Texas.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Receives Sunday off

Stanton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Stanton started the past 12 games and will take a seat Sunday after he posted a .213/.315/.489 slash line with four home runs and 11 RBI during that stretch. Aaron Judge will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Aaron Hicks receives a start in the outfield.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Sitting again Sunday

Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

It's the third straight game on the bench for Pederson, this time with a righty (Drey Jameson) on the mound for Arizona. Thairo Estrada will move to left field while Ford Proctor starts at the keystone.

  • Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Remains on bench vs. lefty

Vogelbach is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Vogelbach finds himself on the bench for a third straight game as Oakland sends out another left-handed pitcher (JP Sears). Pete Alonso will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Darin Ruf starts at first base.
