Paul Sewald RP | DET
Guardians' Paul Sewald: Dealing with shoulder inflammation
Sewald left Monday's game against the Twins due to right shoulder inflammation, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Sewald was lifted from Monday's appearance after retiring a pair of Minnesota batters, and further evaluation revealed inflammation in his throwing shoulder. The team will presumably wait to see how he feels Tuesday and could send him for additional scans before making a decision on whether a trip to the injured list is necessary.

Paul Sewald RP | DET
Guardians' Paul Sewald: Departs with injury Monday
Sewald (undisclosed) was forced to exit Monday's contest against the Twins in the top of the fifth inning, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Sewald entered the game in the top of the fifth with the Guardians trailing 4-0, subsequently retiring the first two batters he faced, one of which he struck out. The right hander then delivered a first-pitch 90.7 mph fastball to Ryan Jeffers, which missed the zone. Sewald then appeared to be in some discomfort, exiting the game with one of Cleveland's trainers. Tim Herrin replaced him on the mound and more information on Sewald's status will likely come following Monday's contest.

Daniel Robert P | PHI
Rangers' Daniel Robert: Designated for assignment
The Rangers designated Robert for assignment Monday.
The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Dane Dunning, whose contract was selected Monday. Robert got into four games with the Rangers last season but has spent all of the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Round Rock, where he's allowed four runs (two earned) with a 17:4 K:BB over 11.2 innings.

Scott Effross RP | NYY
Yankees' Scott Effross: Will face hitters soon
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Effross (hamstring) will throw live batting practice soon, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Out since late February with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, Effross began a throwing program in early April and is ready to progress to facing hitters. He should be ready for a rehab assignment soon, although there's no timetable for the reliever's return to the Yankees' bullpen.

Walter Pennington RP | BAL
Orioles' Walter Pennington: Headed to Baltimore
The Orioles claimed Pennington off waivers from the Rangers on Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Pennington hasn't pitched this season, but he isn't dealing with an injury and was instead working on his mechanics with Triple-A Round Rock before the Rangers designated him for assignment last week, per Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun. Pennington will occupy a spot on the Orioles' 40-man roster and will report to Triple-A Norfolk to begin his time in the organization.

Caleb Boushley RP | TB
Rangers' Caleb Boushley: Optioned to Triple-A
The Rangers optioned Boushley to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Boushley has permitted five runs with a 6:2 K:BB over 7.2 innings covering three appearances this season in the majors. Dane Dunning will absorb his spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

Andrew Kittredge RP | BAL
Orioles' Andrew Kittredge: Facing hitters Wednesday
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that Kittredge (knee) will throw a live batting practice session Wednesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Kittredge will face hitters for the first time since he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee during spring training. The veteran reliever's rehab has some along more quickly than anticipated and he could be ready to return from the 15-day injured list before the end of May.

Ryan Burr RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Ryan Burr: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Blue Jays transferred Burr (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
Toronto replaced Burr on the 40-man roster with right-hander Casey Lawrence, whom the club claimed off waivers from Seattle on Monday. As a result of his move to the 60-day IL, Burr -- who has been on the shelf all season while recovering from right shoulder inflammation -- won't be eligible to make his 2025 debut until late May. Burr recently resumed throwing off a mound, but he's likely a week or more away from heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment.

Casey Lawrence RP | SEA
Blue Jays' Casey Lawrence: Returning to Toronto
The Blue Jays claimed Lawrence off waivers from the Mariners on Monday.
Toronto has plenty of familiarity with Lawrence, a 37-year-old journeyman who signed with the Blue Jays as an undrafted free agent in 2010 before he reached the big leagues for the first time in 2017. Before being designated for assignment by Seattle over the weekend, Lawrence had filled a swingman role in the majors and at Triple-A Tacoma, making four relief appearances for the big club and two starts in the minors. Since he has no minor-league options remaining, Lawrence will join Toronto ahead of its three-game series with the Red Sox that begins Tuesday, but it's not immediately clear whether he'll work out of the bullpen or slot into the rotation. The Blue Jays have a starting spot open for Wednesday after demoting Easton Lucas, who had been filling in for the injured Max Scherzer (thumb).

White Sox's Tyler Gilbert: Pitching as opener Tuesday
Gilbert will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher in Tuesday's game versus the Brewers, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
He's expected to be followed by Bryse Wilson in bulk relief in what will be Gilbert's third straight appearance as an opener. He's tossed a scoreless frame in both of the first two assignments and should be in line for a similar workload Tuesday.
