  • Andre Pallante SP | STL

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Optioned to Triple-A

Pallante was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Memphis.

JoJo Romero will join the Cardinals' bullpen in a corresponding move. Pallante served up a grand slam to Pavin Smith on Monday night and has allowed seven earned runs on 12 hits and four walks through 8.1 major-league innings for the year.

  • J.B. Bukauskas RP | MIL

Brewers' J.B. Bukauskas: Claimed off waivers by MIL

Bukauskas was claimed off waivers Tuesday by the Brewers.

Bukauskas had been designated for assignment by Seattle after allowing two runs -- one earned -- in one inning this year at the MLB level. He'd also pitched to an ugly 7.94 ERA through 5.2 innings of relief at Triple-A Tacoma. He'll head to Triple-A Nashville to begin his stint with the Brewers organization.

  • Kevin Herget RP | NYM

Reds' Kevin Herget: Optioned to Triple-A

Herget was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Louisville, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Lucas Sims (back) has been activated from the IL in a corresponding 26-man roster move. Herget logged two innings of relief in Monday's win over the Rays and was going to be unavailable for a couple of days. He should get another shot soon enough.

  • Lucas Sims RP | CHW

Reds' Lucas Sims: Activated from 15-day IL

Sims (back) was activated Tuesday from the 15-day injured list, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Sims will join the Reds' bullpen Tuesday against the Rays -- a day earlier than expected -- after logging three solid minor-league rehab appearances at Triple-A Louisville. He's battled a lot of injuries in recent seasons, but the 28-year-old right-hander could quickly rise into a prominent setup role if his health cooperates.

  • Hoby Milner RP | CHC

Brewers' Hoby Milner: Bounces back in win

Milner tossed a scoreless seventh inning in Monday's 7-3 victory over the Mariners.

Milner gave up three earned runs in his previous outing, but he got back on track Monday, retiring all three batters he faced. He has only been scored upon in one of his eight appearances, and he currently owns a 3.86 ERA and 0.71 WHIP -- marks very similar to those he put up over 67 games in 2022.

  • Yunior Marte RP | CIN

Phillies' Yunior Marte: Added for doubleheader

Marte was added as the Phillies' 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Marte can give the Phillies a little extra bullpen depth as they navigate a twin bill following Monday's rainout in Chicago. The 28-year-old right-hander has allowed six earned runs in one inning (two appearances) this season at the MLB level.

  • Andrew Chafin RP | CIN

Diamondbacks' Andrew Chafin: Strikes out two in third save

Chafin picked up the save in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Cardinals, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.

Chafin entered with a three-run lead in the ninth and proceeded to retire Nolan Arenado, Dylan Carlson and Tyler O'Neill in order, including back-to-back strikeouts to end the game. It was the left-hander's third save in as many tries, and he appears to be separating himself for the top closing role, as Scott McGough has blown two of his three save opportunities so far.

  • A.J. Puk RP | ARI

Marlins' A.J. Puk: Secures second save

Puk recorded his second save of the season Monday, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning in the win against the Giants.

Puk entered the game in the ninth inning, protecting a slim 4-3 lead in the series opener with San Francisco. The 27-year-old started the inning by giving up a single to Joey Bart but quickly regained his composure and retired LaMonte Wade, Brandon Crawford and Thairo Estrada to secure his second save of the season. While Puk's performance is a positive sign for the Miami bullpen, he will likely continue sharing the closer role alongside Dylan Floro and Tanner Scott.

  • Adam Ottavino RP | NYY

Mets' Adam Ottavino: Secures second save

Ottavino notched a save in Monday's 8-6 win over the Dodgers with a perfect ninth inning.

Ottavino breezed through the ninth frame to protect a two-run lead, retiring the side on 14 pitches. The save was the second of the season for the right-hander, though the opportunity may have been the result of David Robertson pitching (and recording a save) each of the previous two days. Robertson has four saves on the campaign and remains the best bet for New York's' ninth-inning opportunities, so Ottavino should be considered a backup option who is likely to see only occasional save chances.

  • Ryan Weathers SP | NYY

Padres' Ryan Weathers: Impresses again Monday

Weathers dropped to 1-1 in Monday's 2-0 loss to Atlanta, pitching six innings and allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters.

Though Weathers took the loss, he continued his strong start to the campaign with his first quality start. The left-hander recorded season-high marks with six frames and five strikeouts, and he's now held the opponent to two or fewer runs in all three of his starts this season. Weathers entered the rotation due to Joe Musgrove (toe/shoulder) opening the campaign on the injured list, but he's pitched well enough to at least be in consideration to retain a starting role once Musgrove returns. Even if the Friars opt to maintain a six-man rotation, the addition of Musgrove would have to result in either Nick Martinez or Seth Lugo moving to the bullpen if Weathers were to retain a starting role.
