The Diamondbacks recalled Vargas from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The hard-throwing right-hander will provide Arizona with a fresh arm in the bullpen for Sunday's series finale with the Pirates after Tyler Gilbert (personal) -- who covered three innings in relief in Saturday's 3-2 win -- was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move. Vargas has previously made five appearances for Arizona this season, giving up three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven over 4.2 innings.

The Diamondbacks placed Gilbert on the paternity list Sunday.

Just one day after getting called up Triple-A Reno and tossing three innings of one-run ball out of the bullpen in a 3-2 win over the Pirates, Gilbert will leave the team in anticipation of the birth of his child. Gilbert should be ready to rejoin the Diamondbacks coming out of the All-Star break, but it's unclear if Arizona plans to keep him on hand as a bullpen option or potential No. 5 starter.

Pruitt (1-6) took the loss against the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing four earned runs on four hits over 1.2 innings. He didn't walk a batter or record a strikeout.

Pruitt drew a spot start with Paul Blackburn unable to go due to an illness, but the right-hander never found his footing. Pruitt allowed three runs in the opening frame via a Justin Turner single and Alex Verdugo two-run home run before also being charged with an additional run after getting the hook in the second. The 33-year-old still sports a solid 3.90 ERA and acceptable 1.24 WHIP across 24 appearances (four starts) despite Saturday's stumble, but he's managed to record only two holds on the campaign while forging his crooked won-loss record.

Munoz (2-2) took the loss Saturday against the Astros, allowing an earned run on a solo home run over one inning. He also walked a batter and struck out two.

The flamethrowing right-hander experienced a rare hiccup when he surrendered a 371-foot one-out solo homer to Martin Maldonado, which snapped a 2-2 tie and ultimately saddled Munoz with the loss. Munoz hadn't allowed a ball to leave the yard over his first 16 appearances, so Saturday's stumble can safely be labeled an outlier for the high-leverage asset who has also garnered seven holds while posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 37.5 percent strikeout rate.

The Blue Jays reinstated Pop (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Before landing on the IL on May 5 with a strained right hamstring, Pop was a fringe member of the Blue Jays' 26-man active roster after compiling a 6.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 13.2 innings over his 15 relief appearances. Though Pop is now healthy again after making eight rehab appearances over the course of two separate assignments with Buffalo, the Blue Jays don't have a spot available for another low-leverage reliever.

The Orioles optioned Zimmermann to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.

Zimmermann was sent out to make room on the 26-man active roster for first baseman Ryan Mountcastle (vertigo), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. During his brief stay with the big club, Zimmermann made a lone appearance out of the bullpen, giving up an unearned run in one inning of relief in Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

The Phillies recalled Bellatti from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.

He'll be joining the Philadelphia bullpen as a replacement for southpaw Jose Alvarado (elbow), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Bellatti has previously made 15 appearances with the big club this season, pitching to a 5.68 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB in 12.2 innings.

The Phillies placed Alvarado on the 15-day injured list Sunday with left elbow inflammation.

The transaction is retroactive to Friday, meaning that in addition to Sunday's series finale in Miami, Alvarado will miss at least the Phillies' first two series coming out of the All-Star break. Alvarado boasts a tidy 1.38 ERA and has struck out 39 and gathered six saves over 26 innings, but his fantasy value had been trending down since he returned in early June from a stint on the IL, also the result of an inflamed elbow. In the month since Alvarado returned to the Phillies' 26-man active roster, Craig Kimbrel has re-established himself as the unquestioned top option for saves out of the bullpen.

Wilson (pectoral) tossed a simulated inning Saturday, per MLB.com.

Wilson has been on the injured list since June 27 with a right pec strain. The righty reliever reportedly felt fine after throwing to hitters Saturday, and he's scheduled for another live session Tuesday. If that goes well, Wilson could rejoin the Padres bullpen immediately following the All-Star break.

The Royals reinstated Yarbrough (head) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday in Cleveland.

Kansas City designated reliever Amir Garrett for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for Yarbrough, who was on the shelf for close to the 60-day minimum after exiting a May 7 start versus the Athletics when he was struck on the head by a line drive. Yarbrough suffered multiple fractures to his head but demonstrated rapid progress in his recovery and was cleared to begin a rehab assignment June 19. After running up a 2.55 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 20:2 K:BB in 17.2 innings over the course of four starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and at Triple-A Omaha, Yarbrough will take back his spot as the Royals' No. 5 starter.
