  • Paxton Schultz RP | WAS

Blue Jays' Paxton Schultz: Resumes mound work

Schultz (finger) threw a bullpen session on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Schultz has been on the IL since late June due to inflammation in his right middle finger, and Friday is the first time since then that he's thrown off a mound. He figures to have a good chance to return when eligible immediately after the All-Star break, though his job security in Toronto's bullpen is less certain.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Throws bullpen session

Garcia (ankle) threw a bullpen session Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Friday marks the first time Garcia has thrown a bullpen session since he landed on the injured list Saturday with a sprained left ankle. He won't be eligible to come off the IL until shortly after the All-Star break, but his return to the mound is a positive development for his chances of being activated following a minimum-length stay.

  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Rays' Pete Fairbanks: Loses control in ninth

Fairbanks (4-3) took the loss and blew a save Friday, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk while recording just one out in the 5-4 defeat to the Red Sox.

Fairbanks ran into trouble in the ninth. After retiring the first batter he faced, the 31-year-old issued a walk to Roman Anthony before surrendering a walk-off two-run homer that erased the Rays' late lead. It marked just his third blown save of the season, but the right-hander has now allowed multiple runs in three of his last 10 appearances, a stretch that has dented an otherwise solid 2025 campaign.

  • Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Scoreless streak continues in save

Iglesias secured the save in Friday's 6-5 win over the Cardinals, allowing no baserunners in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

It's worth noting Dylan Lee may not have been available after working the past two days and taking a blown save in Thursday's loss to the Athletics. That said, Iglesias is certainly turning a corner and pushing to secure the closer role after posting a 6.75 ERA as of June 5. The veteran right-hander hasn't surrendered a run over his last 11.2 innings, during which he owns a 0.60 WHIP and 16:1 K:BB.

  • Jhoan Duran RP | PHI

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Secures save No. 15

Duran secured the save in Friday's 2-1 win over Pittsburgh, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.

Duran successfully converted his fifth save in a row, and he's now turned in six consecutive scoreless outings. The hard-throwing right-hander appears to be well over an illness that cost him Tuesday's tilt against the Cubs. Duran sports a 1.49 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 47:16 K:BB while converting 15 of his 17 save chances over 42.1 innings, and his ERA would be a career best if it sticks.

  • Victor Vodnik RP | COL

Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Picks up second save

Vodnik worked the ninth inning and earned the save, allowing one hit and walking one while striking out three, during Friday's 3-2 win over Reds.

Vodnik has not excelled in save opportunities this season; this was just his second save in five chances. His last save came back on April 6, and since then, he's had two opportunities to save a game and didn't convert either. Nonetheless, the right-hander has been one of the more consistent arms out of the Rockies bullpen. After striking out the side Friday, the 25-year-old has 10 strikeouts in his last 5.2 innings, and his season-long ERA in 27.1 innings is down to 2.30.

  • Diamondbacks' Kendall Graveman: Reinstated from IL

The Diamondbacks activated Graveman (hip) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Graveman's one-month stint on the injured list comes to an end Friday, as he'll rejoin Arizona's bullpen in place of Jalen Beeks (back), who's headed to the IL himself. Graveman has allowed eight runs in 8.1 innings across nine appearances with the Diamondbacks this season.

  • Jalen Beeks RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jalen Beeks: IL move official

The Diamondbacks placed Beeks on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 8, due to lower back inflammation.

As manager Torey Lovullo indicated earlier Friday, Beeks will be shelved with back inflammation. The move opens up a spot for Kendall Graveman (hip) to rejoin the active roster. In 41 innings, Beeks has a 4.39 ERA and a 39:15 K:BB.

  • Josh Sborz RP | TEX

Rangers' Josh Sborz: Starting rehab stint

Sborz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Sborz will finally begin his minor-league rehab assignment after progressing to throwing live batting practice June 19. It'll be his first game action since undergoing shoulder surgery last November. He's on track to rejoin the Rangers in late July.

  • Padres' Eduarniel Nunez: Optioned to El Paso

The Padres optioned Nunez to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

After giving up two earned runs over 4.2 innings during his first nine days as a major leaguer, Nunez will head back to Triple-A to clear room for Ryan Bergert's (forearm) return from the IL. The 26-year-old Nunez also owns a 2.40 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 30 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season, and if he continues at that rate, he should be able to make another appearance for the Padres at some point down the line.
