  • Chase Petty SP | CIN

Reds' Chase Petty: Following opener Saturday

Petty will pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Brent Suter against the Guardians on Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.

Petty's first two major-league starts haven't quite gone according to plan, as he's allowed 13 earned runs in just 5.1 innings. The Reds will now see how the 22-year-old fares after following an opener, and he could continue to do so in his future turns through the rotation if his performance improves.

  • Cole Ragans RP | KC

Royals' Cole Ragans: Exits with trainer

Ragans was removed from his start Friday against the Cardinals with an apparent injury, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Ragans' fastball was noticeably down in the sixth inning, and after allowing a leadoff single to Masyn Winn, the 27-year-old southpaw left the game alongside a trainer. The Royals will presumably take a closer look at him to determine what's wrong, and he can be considered day-to-day until the team provides an update. Ragans finished Friday's contest with four earned runs allowed on five hits and zero walks with seven strikeouts across five-plus frames.

  • Slade Cecconi SP | CLE

    Guardians' Slade Cecconi: Returning Saturday

Cecconi (oblique) will return from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the Reds, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Cecconi has been on the IL all season while working his way back from a left oblique strain he suffered during spring training. He has since made three rehab starts at Triple-A Columbus, turning in a 4.85 ERA and 1.08 WHIP while posting a 10:2 K:BB across 13 innings. Now set to make his Guardians debut, the 25-year-old righty will be welcomed back to the majors by a Reds lineup that owns a .690 OPS since the start of May.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Brewers' Jose Quintana: Facing minimum IL stint

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Friday that Quintana (shoulder) could be reinstated from the 15-day injured list when eligible May 26, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Quintana landed on the 15-day IL on Wednesday due to a left shoulder impingement. An MRI revealed inflammation in his left shoulder, but the Brewers are optimistic that Quintana will need only a minimum stint on the IL, which would put him in line to start against the Red Sox on May 26. He went 4-1 across six starts with a 2.65 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB over 34 innings prior to his injury.

  • Osvaldo Bido RP | CHW

Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Optioned to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Bido to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Bido earned a spot on the Athletics' Opening Day roster, but he struggled across his nine starts, posting a 5.82 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB across 43.1 innings. He'll go down to Triple-A to regain his form while Matt Krook and Anthony Maldonado join the big-league pitching staff.

  • Dodgers' Justin Wrobleski: Sent back to OKC

The Dodgers optioned Wrobleski to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Wrobleski pitched well after being recalled Thursday, tossing four shutout frames and striking out four batters while collecting his first win of the season. However, he'll now be sent back to the Comets in favor of Ryan Loutos, who offers another fresh arm to Los Angeles' bullpen.

  • Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Officially called up from Triple-A

The Rockies selected Palmquist's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

Palmquist started the season in Triple-A, but with Ryan Feltner (back) still on the injured list, the 24-year-old southpaw is slated to make his major-league debut against Arizona on Friday, per Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. Palmquist has a 2-2 record across seven starts in Triple-A this season with a 3.82 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 45:18 K:BB across 35.1 innings.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Lands on IL with shoulder injury

The Diamondbacks placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Friday due to left shoulder inflammation.

Rodriguez has given up four earned runs or more in four of his last five outings, and his left shoulder injury may have played a factor in those performances. He'll be shut down from throwing and undergo further tests and imaging, and the results will help the Diamondbacks determine a rehab program for the 32-year-old southpaw. With Rodriguez on the 15-day IL and Joe Mantiply optioned to Triple-A Reno, Arizona is bringing up Scott McGough and Christian Montes De Oca from Triple-A in corresponding moves.

  • Sean Manaea RP | NYM

Mets' Sean Manaea: Throwing bullpen session Tuesday

Manaea (oblique) is slated to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Manaea resumed a throwing program in mid-April following a PRP injection and has progressed to throwing from the bump again. He shouldn't be far off from facing hitters and eventually going out on a rehab assignment, but no target date for either has been revealed by the Mets yet.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Pushed back with fingernail issue

Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Friday that Cabrera's next start has been pushed back a few days due to fluid buildup in his fingernail area, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.

Cabrera's next turn had been scheduled to come up this weekend against the Rays, but he appears poised to take the ball early next week versus the Cubs instead, although McCullough didn't reveal the exact day for Cabrera's planned return. The righty has a history of fingernail/blister problems, but it appears at this juncture that this one will not require a stint on the 15-day injured list.
