Cruz (ankle) will start in center field and bat third in Thursday's game versus the Cardinals.

Cruz made a pinch-hit appearance Tuesday, but this will be his first start since he departed Sunday's game against the Royals due to left ankle discomfort. The 25-year-old is one home run shy of a 20-20 campaign but has a .574 OPS through 49 at-bats in September.

Adames isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

After clinching the NL Central on Wednesday, the Brewers will now give Adames his first off day of the season. Joey Ortiz will fill in as Milwaukee's shortstop while Andruw Monasterio starts at third base and bats ninth.

Rafaela is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Tampa Bay, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Rafaela is getting a breather after going 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts across his last five games. Nick Sogard will cover second base and bat ninth for the Red Sox.

Jimenez will start at second base and bat seventh in Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Jimenez will pick up his fourth consecutive start at the keystone, despite going 1-for-9 with three strikeouts over the previous three contests. Even though Jimenez has produced a weak .224/.332/.365 slash line over 184 plate appearances with the big club this season, the Blue Jays could nonetheless stick with him as their primary second baseman the rest of the way with Will Wagner (knee) done for the season and with Davis Schneider having taken on more playing time in left field of late.

Rojas (leg) isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

A sore left leg prevented Rojas from playing in Wednesday's contest, and he'll need at least one more day to recover. Tommy Edman will move to shortstop while Rojas sits, allowing Andy Pages to pick up a start in center field and bat eighth.

Winn went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the Pirates.

Winn has gone 8-for-34 (.235) with two homers (both solo shots) and a stolen base over his last eight games. He's picked up extra rest in September after playing nearly everyday for most of the second half. The shortstop is at a .271/.318/.411 slash line with 14 homers, 11 steals, 51 RBI and 75 runs scored through 141 contests this season.

Lindor (back) will remain out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Wednesday that Lindor was unlikely to be ready to play in the series opener versus the Phillies, and Martino has confirmed that the National League MVP candidate will indeed miss his fourth straight start with a back injury. The good news is that Lindor did resume baseball activities Wednesday, per Martino, so progress is being made. Lindor noted Monday after being examined that he expected to miss anywhere from two to five days, and it's going to be toward the latter end of that timetable, at minimum. Luisangel Acuna has started at shortstop of the Mets in each of the last two contests.

Neto went 0-for-1 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the White Sox.

Neto didn't start the contest but entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and drew a walk. He proceeded to steal second base, then scored the game-tying run on a Taylor Ward single. The theft was Neto's 30th of the campaign, making him one of seven major-leaguers so far this season to log 20 home runs and 30 stolen bases.

The Blue Jays placed Bichette on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a fractured right middle finger, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Bichette was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rangers due to what the team initially referred to as a finger contusion. However, subsequent testing has revealed a fracture, which will end the shortstop's season. Injuries have limited Bichette to just 81 games in 2024, and he slashed a disappointing .225/.277/.322 with four home runs during that time. Ernie Clement and Leo Jimenez will handle shortstop for the Blue Jays down the stretch with Bichette out.

Lee is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.

The switch-hitting Lee had started in each of the Twins' last three matchups with right-handed pitchers, but he'll hit the bench for a second straight matchup with a lefty (Joey Cantillo). Though Carlos Correa looks poised to serve as the Twins' primary shortstop down the stretch following his recent activation from the injured list, Lee could factor into the mix for playing time at second base, where Minnesota has been rotating three players (Lee, Edouard Julien and Kyle Farmer) of late. Super-utility man Willi Castro is typically picking up starts out of the outfield but could settle in as the primary option at the keystone once outfielder Max Kepler (knee) returns from the injured list.
