  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Back in lineup Friday, Saturday

De La Cruz is starting at shortstop and batting second Saturday against the Marlins.

De La Cruz got just his second day off this season Thursday against Colorado, though the rest day reportedly wasn't related to the hand injury he's been managing. That appears to be confirmed with his inclusion in the lineup Friday and Saturday. De La Cruz will look to extend a four-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 7-for-17 with three doubles and three stolen bases.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Not in Saturday's lineup

Rojas isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against Detroit, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Rojas has tallied a base hit in each of his last three games, but he'll take a seat on the bench Saturday while Enrique Hernandez starts at shortstop, batting seventh.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Carries offense in loss

Seager went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Astros.

He got the Rangers on the board with a two-run shot off Hunter Brown in the sixth inning. Seager has been on fire in July, racking up five multi-hit performances, three homers and 11 RBI in nine games while batting .361 (13-for-36), and the surge has pushed his slash line on the season up to .272/.352/.485.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Shines late in win

Perdomo went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 5-4 win over Toronto.

Perdomo scored one of Arizona's two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game, and his sacrifice fly an inning later walked off the Blue Jays. The shortstop has hit safely in nine of 11 contests, going 13-for-40 (.325) with two walks, six RBI, one steal and nine runs. He's currently batting a career-high .287.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Gets aboard four times

Wisely went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the Twins.

Wisely's offense has been all or nothing in July with three multi-hit efforts and just one hit over the other seven contests. The shortstop finished a home run shy of the cycle Friday in one of his best games of the year. The triple was his first of the campaign. Wisely is slashing .286/.322/.436 with three home runs, 10 doubles, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and one stolen base over 150 plate appearances. With Nick Ahmed released by the Giants earlier in the week, Wisely is now the starting shortstop, though he may sit out in favor of Tyler Fitzgerald against some left-handed pitchers.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Hits 16th homer

Witt went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-1 win over the Red Sox.

Witt extended the Royals' lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning, launching a 429-foot homer off Cooper Criswell to lead off the frame. The 24-year-old shortstop has been on a tear of late -- he's hit safely in 10 straight games, going 20-for-40 with four homers and eight extra-base hits in that span. Witt's boosted his batting average to .327 with a .941 OPS, 16 homers, 63 RBI, 75 runs scored and 22 stolen bases through 95 games this season.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Braves' Orlando Arcia: Ends power drought

Arcia went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 6-1 win over the Padres.

Arcia ended a couple of lengthy droughts, as he had gone 29 games since his last multi-hit effort and his last homer. During the slump, the shortstop hit just .147 with four doubles and two RBI. He started the season well, but he's now at a .212/.246/.338 slash line with seven homers, 25 RBI, 27 runs scored, 18 doubles and no stolen bases over 88 contests. Arcia hasn't been challenged for his spot in the lineup, but that's mostly a testament to his reliable defense.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Sitting again Friday

Bichette (calf) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Bichette will sit for a second straight game after sustaining a fascia strain in his right calf Wednesday against the Giants. Leo Jimenez will start at shortstop Friday and bat ninth against Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Out of lineup Friday

Cruz is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

The 25-year-old returned to the lineup Thursday after sitting the previous two games due to hamstring soreness, but he's back on the bench for Friday's contest. There's been no report that Cruz had aggravated the injury, so the Pirates may simply be exercising caution just ahead of the All-Star break. Jared Triolo is starting at shortstop and batting seventh Friday.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Taking seat Friday

Rocchio is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.

Rocchio will give way to the lefty-hitting Daniel Schneemann at shortstop with righty Taj Bradley on the mound for Tampa Bay. Rocchio went hitless in nine at-bats during the Guardians' four-game series against Detroit that finished Thursday.
