Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Shut down with oblique injury
McLain aggravated his right oblique Sunday and has been shut down for the remainder of the season, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
McLain was on the cusp of returning to the Reds following a nearly four-week absence for a right oblique strain, but the injury reappeared as he was playing in a minor-league rehab game this weekend with Triple-A Louisville. A fresh round of imaging scans taken Monday revealed it to be a Grade 2 strain, so he can be ruled out for any potential postseason run as well. The 24-year-old infielder finishes his breakout rookie campaign with a .290/.357/.507 batting line, 16 homers, 50 RBI, 14 steals and 65 runs scored across 89 major-league games.

Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Not activated Tuesday
McLain (oblique) will not be activated from the injured list ahead of Tuesday's game at Cleveland, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
McLain apparently needs at least one more day to recover from the right oblique strain that sent him to the IL in late August. The 24-year-old infielder spent the weekend on a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville and went 1-for-6 with a single, a walk and three strikeouts. He played shortstop for Louisville on Saturday and then moved to second base Sunday.

Keiner Delgado 2B | PIT
Yankees' Keiner Delgado: More walks than K's in FCL
Delgado slashed .293/.414/.485 with eight home runs, 36 steals on 43 attempts and more walks (36) than strikeouts (31) across 49 games in the Florida Complex League.
Listed at 5-foot-7, 145 pounds, Delgado gets the most out of his physical abilities and gets high marks for his makeup. The 19-year-old switch hitter fits best long term at second base and is at least an above-average runner. Delgado was a year older than the typical high-end FCL prospect, but he is clearly very skilled and may not get significantly challenged until he gets to Double-A or Triple-A.

David Fletcher 2B | ATL
Angels' David Fletcher: Heads back to bench role
Fletcher is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Fletcher went 3-for-13 with a walk and an RBI while making starts out of the middle infield in each of the Angels' last four games, but he looks as though he'll move back into more of a utility role for the final week of the regular season. Zach Neto and Michael Stefanic will form the Halos' middle-infield tandem Monday, and the Angels will likely give both youngsters regular reps at shortstop and second base, respectively, the rest of the way.

Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Braves' Ehire Adrianza: Activated, loses roster spot
Atlanta reinstated Adrianza (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment Monday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
With Triple-A Gwinnett's season coming to an end Sunday, Adrianza's minor-league rehab assignment simultaneously concluded. Over an 11-game stint with Gwinnett, Adrianza batted just .152, and though he's seemingly healthy again, Atlanta didn't have room for him on its roster. Atlanta will proceed with Nicky Lopez and Luke Williams as its primary utility men for the final week of the regular season.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Homers in loss
Crawford went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 9-8 loss to the Rangers.
Crawford took Nathan Eovaldi deep in third inning for his second home run over his last five games and his fifth this month. He continues to be one of the Mariners' more impactful hitters, as he now has a hit in 12 of his last 13 games and is slashing .281/.349/.491 over that span. His 17 home runs on the year nearly double his previous career high of nine from 2021, while his 58 RBI and 91 runs scored also are career-best totals.
-
Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Crushes two homers
Berti went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's victory over Milwaukee.
Berti opened the game's scoring with a 428-foot solo shot off Freddy Peralta in the second inning. However, the 33-year-old utility man wasn't finished, as he cracked another homer -- this time a 411-foot, two-run shot in the eighth inning. Berti appears to have laid claim to a bigger role in the wake of Luis Arraez's recent ankle injury, as he has started four of the last five games, including the past two at shortstop. He is slashing .286/.327/.386 with six homers, 15 steals, 49 runs and 32 RBI over 127 games this season.

Jorge Mateo SS | ATL
Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Multi-hit effort in win
Mateo went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Guardians.
Mateo drove in the second run of the game with an RBI groundout in the second, then doubled and later scored on an Adley Rutschman double in the fourth. Mateo had seven multi-hit efforts over the first month of the season, but Sunday was only his fifth such performance since. Entering Sunday, Mateo had hit only .172 over 233 at-bats since the start of May, though he is now hitting .280 over 25 September at-bats.

Gabriel Arias SS | CLE
Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Out of Sunday's lineup
Arias is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Arias is hitting .167 with a 34.1 percent strikeout rate over his past 11 games and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale. Jose Tena will start at shortstop and bat ninth.

Garrett Hampson SS | CIN
Marlins' Garrett Hampson: Resting Sunday
Hampson isn't starting Sunday against the Brewers, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.
Hampson will sit down for the second straight time after being held hitless in three tries during Friday's series opener. Jon Berti will pick up another start at shortstop and bat seventh.
