Carroll (elbow) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Carroll was lifted from Sunday's game against the Cardinals after suffering a hyperextended right elbow on a swing. He is considered day-to-day. Jorge Barrosa will take over in right field for the Diamondbacks while Carroll rests.

Vazquez will travel to join the Orioles' taxi squad for their weekday series against the Red Sox, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.

Vazquez will give the Orioles a little bit of extra infield depth in Boston. He's spent most of this season with Triple-A Norfolk, where he has a .576 OPS with four steals, two homers and nine RBI across 115 plate appearances. Vazquez appeared in 36 regular-season games for the Orioles last year and slashed .160/.208/.240 with two steals, one homer and three RBI over 53 plate appearances.

Mayer (forearm) has been cleared to start his hitting progression with dry swings, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Healey notes that Mayer is "still weeks away" from returning to major-league action. However, it's a step in the right direction for Mayer, who has been sidelined by a stress reaction in his left forearm since June 25. The Red Sox should have a more clear idea of Mayer's return timeline once he's cleared to embark on a rehab assignment.

The Padres recalled Duran from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Duran will serve as a third catcher for the Padres, potentially allowing the club to use Luis Campusano more in its designated hitter spot. The 28-year-old Duran has slashed just .146/.222/.305 in 35 games with the big club this season.

The Padres placed Andujar on the 10-day injured list Monday with a fractured right wrist.

Andujar was struck by a Lucas Erceg pitch during Sunday's win over the Royals. He remained in that contest, but subsequent testing revealed a fracture. Andujar needs only a splint and not a cast, and the Padres expect him to return sometime in August, per AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. With Andujar shelved, the Padres could utilize Manny Machado in the designated hitter spot and Sung-Mun Song at third base. On Monday in Atlanta, the club has Xander Bogaerts at DH and Song at shortstop.

Isbel (foot) is slated to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Isbel is ready to take a significant step in his recovery program for a Grade 3 tear of the left plantar fascia, which caused him to go on the IL in mid-June. How his foot reacts to in-game activities will ultimately determine when he'll be ready to return to major-league action. Prior to his foot injury, Isbel was slashing .244/.298/.354 with five steals, three home runs and 11 RBI across 183 plate appearances.

The Cubs designated Pomeranz for assignment Monday, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Pomeranz latched on with the Cubs earlier this month after being released by the Angels, but he fared worse during his time with the Northsiders. Between the two stops, the lefty holds a 5.59 ERA and 17:16 K:BB over 29 innings this season. The 37-year-old Pomeranz could have to accept a minor-league contract if he wants to continue pitching.

Muncy is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

With a tough lefty (Cristopher Sanchez) on the bump for the Phillies, the left-handed-hitting Muncy will hit the bench while the Dodgers make room in the infield for Miguel Rojas. Muncy had started in each of the Dodgers' previous five games, going 3-for-15 with a home run, a double, four walks, two runs and two RBI.

The Cubs placed Maton on the 15-day injured list Monday with right knee tendinitis, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Maton returned just over a week ago from the same injury and is now back on the IL after making just one appearance. Manager Craig Counsell said Monday that it will be "a little more of an extended absence" for Maton this time around, per Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune. The reliever will receive multiple opinions on his knee before deciding on a course of action. It's been a struggle this season for the veteran reliever, as Maton has posted an ugly 6.18 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in 31 outings after inking a two-year, $14.5 million contract last offseason.

The Tigers optioned Valencia to Triple-A Toledo following Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Valencia was recalled from Triple-A shortly before the All-Star break to provide catching depth behind Dillon Dingler, but the former will head back to Toledo after Gleyber Torres (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Valencia did well at the plate during his short major-league stint, going 5-for-12 (.417) with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored.
