Brendan Rodgers 2B | BOS
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Not starting Friday
Rodgers (back) isn't starting Friday against the Reds.
Manager Bud Black indicated Friday that Rodgers could require a stint on the injured list since he continues to deal with back stiffness, but he'll remain day-to-day for now. Alan Trejo is starting at second base and batting ninth.

Jack Mayfield 2B | LAA
Angels' Jack Mayfield: Optioned to Triple-A
Mayfield was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Mayfield made the Angels' Opening Day roster this year and appeared in 10 games for the big-league club. He hit .281 with a homer, a triple, a double, six runs and three RBI, but he didn't have consistent playing time and will head to the minors after David Fletcher (hip) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Brendan Rodgers 2B | BOS
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: IL stint in consideration
Manger Bud Black said Friday that Rodgers (back) could require a trip to the injured list, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Rodgers has missed the last two games with back stiffness, and he's apparently still dealing with the issue Friday. Since Garrett Hampson (hand) is expected to be on the IL until at least Tuesday, Alan Trejo should see an uptick in playing time at second base if Rodgers misses additional time.

Vinny Capra 3B | BOS
Blue Jays' Vinny Capra: Receives big-league promotion
Capra had his contract selected by the Blue Jays on Friday.
Capra has an .855 OPS through 18 games with Triple-A Buffalo this season and will now receive his first look at the majors. The 25-year-old should fill a utility role off the bench until Cavan Biggio (illness) or Teoscar Hernandez (oblique) return from the injured list.

Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Tallies three RBI on Thursday
Kim went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and three RBI in Thursday's 7-5 win over Cincinnati.
Kim collected his first two doubles of the year in the victory, and his sixth-inning bases-loaded two-bagger drove in a trio of runs. The multi-hit performance was the first of the season for the infielder, who came into the contest batting just .194 overall. Kim upped his average to .250 with the big game, and he has registered two homers, eight RBI, 11 runs scored and a steal over 47 plate appearances this season.

Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS
White Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Strikeouts piling up
Gonzalez has struck out at a 38.9 percent clip and has a .311 wOBA across 54 plate appearances with Triple-A Charlotte.
Swing and miss has been a part of Gonzalez's profile consistently as he has risen through the minors, though his struggles to make contact have been at an extreme to begin the 2022 season. He's struck out multiple times in seven of his 13 starts, and he also has only three extra-base hits. It's too small of a sample to draw conclusions about Gonzalez's chances to make an impact at the big-league level this season, but the 25-year-old has not had an ideal start to the campaign.

Christian Arroyo 2B | NYM
Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Fills in at shortstop
Arroyo started at shortstop in place of a resting Xander Bogaerts and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Thursday's 1-0 loss to the Blue Jays.
Arroyo has served in a utility role this season, slotting in at second base, right field and shortstop. He's batting .194 (7-for-36) and the steal was his first. Arroyo is typically in the lineup somewhere whenever Boston faces a left-hander.

Harold Castro 2B | KC
Tigers' Harold Castro: Two hits in loss
Castro went 2-for-4 with two singles in a 7-1 loss Thursday in Minnesota.
Castro singled twice but also committed two throwing errors while making his first start of the season at the hot corner. While the utility man played some third base in previous seasons, he has primarily served as a middle infielder. With a career .292 average and .323 mark for the season, the Tigers may get creative in finding places for the 28-year-old to play in order to keep his bat in the lineup.

Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD
Red Sox's Jonathan Arauz: Nearing return
Arauz (illness) is expected to be activated soon but will require a rehab assignment before returning, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Arauz has been on the COVID-19 injured list for over a week, so he'll see some game action in the minors before rejoining the Red Sox. While it's not clear when he'll join a minor-league affiliate or how many rehab appearances he'll require, he'll likely be in the mix to return to the majors early next week.

Andres Gimenez SS | TOR
Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Sits against lefty
Gimenez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.
The lefty-hitting Gimenez will retreat to the bench with southpaw Reid Detmers on the hill for the Angels. Owen Miller will shift over from first base to replace Gimenez at the keystone.
