  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Out of lineup Wednesday

Devers is not in the lineup Wednesday against Atlanta, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

This appears to be a routine day of rest for Devers, who's sitting on a .245/.299/.538 slash line with 11 home runs and 34 RBI through 36 games this season. Justin Turner will start at third base and bat third for Boston.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Out of lineup Wednesday

Garcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Garcia takes a break after going hitless in the first two games of the series against Chicago. Matt Duffy will step in for Garcia as the Royals' starting third baseman and No. 7 hitter.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Returns from IL

The Twins reinstated Farmer (mouth) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

In order to create room for Farmer on the 26-man active roster, the Twins optioned everyday third baseman Jose Miranda to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Miranda had been in the midst of a prolonged slump at the plate and may be in store for only a brief stint in the minors to regain confidence with the bat, but in the meantime, Farmer and Willi Castro could be in store for increased opportunities at the hot corner. Farmer bats from the right side while Castro is a switch hitter, so it's possible that Castro ends up serving as a strong-side platoon option while Farmer picks up most of his starts against left-handed pitching.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Tigers' Nick Maton: Takes seat for series finale

Maton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

The lefty-hitting Maton regularly sits out against southpaws, but he'll find himself on the bench versus a right-hander (Peyton Battenfield) on Wednesday. Though Maton doesn't appear to be on the outs completely just yet, he's beginning to lose work to the hot-hitting Andy Ibanez, who will replace Maton at third base Wednesday after producing a .797 OPS through his first 11 games with the Tigers.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Bound for Triple-A

The Twins optioned Miranda to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Miranda will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to infielder Kyle Farmer (mouth), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. While Miranda's impending demotion is shocking on the surface following his impressive rookie campaign in 2022, the 24-year-old is in the midst of a prolonged funk at the plate. He's gone just 6-for-36 over his last 10 games and is slashing .220/.275/.318 on the season, with his .593 OPS representing a 158-point drop from 2022. Ideally, Miranda will be in store for a brief stint in the minors to regain confidence and get his timing back at the plate before he steps back into an everyday role with the Twins at third base. In the meantime, the Twins are likely to turn to a combination of Farmer and Willi Castro to handle the hot corner.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Likely headed to minors

The Twins are expected to option Miranda to Triple-A St. Paul prior to Wednesday's game against the Padres, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Minnesota has yet to confirm the transaction, but Miranda is expected to cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to infielder Kyle Farmer (mouth), who is due to return from the 10-day injured list.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Power production continues

Walls went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run Tuesday against the Orioles.

Walls took Grayson Rodriguez yard in the fifth inning to record his sixth home run of the season. He now has three long balls across his last seven starts, though he has only seven total hits in that span. Walls has enjoyed a regular role while appearing primarily at second and third base, and he's maintained a .265/.365/.542 line across 96 plate appearances for the season.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Good chance to return over weekend

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters before Tuesday's game against the Royals that there's a good chance Moncada (back) returns over the weekend series against the Astros, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Grifol seemed to rule out Moncada returning for the series against the Royals, but it seems likely the infielder will be back in the lineup by the end of the weekend. Moncada has been out since the middle of April with his back injury, and he should resume everyday duties once healthy.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

    Twins' Kyle Farmer: Activation imminent

Farmer (mouth) will go through pregame workouts with the Twins on Tuesday but will not be activated prior to their game against the Padres, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

His activation is imminent, however, with manager Rocco Baldelli saying it "could be tomorrow, could be the next day, could be the day after that." Farmer had another scheduled dental procedure Monday as he continues to work his way back from being hit in the face with a pitch last month.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Could start rehab soon

Peraza (ankle) could begin a rehab assignment within the next few days, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Peraza was finally placed on the injured list Tuesday with a right ankle sprain that's been bothering him for about a week, but it would appear he's nearly game-ready. If he's able to progress without setbacks, a return when first eligible (May 16) seems possible.
