Giants' Jason Vosler: Steals base in win

Vosler went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in a 5-1 win Sunday in Miami.

Vosler started at third base for the fifth straight game. He singled, stole a base and scored in the Giants' four-run fourth inning. Since being recalled from Triple-A on Wednesday, he is 5-for-16 with two homers, a double and a stolen base and has reached base safely in all five contests. With Evan Longoria (shoulder) limited to a hitting role, Vosler is making the most of his opportunity to fill in at the hot corner.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

    Pirates' Kevin Newman: Starts running

Newman (groin) resumed running Sunday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

He is eligible to return June 26, and it seems like that could be achievable. The Pirates have deserving young middle-infield options in Diego Castillo and Tucupita Marcano, so it remains to be seen how much Newman will play once healthy.

Giants' Jason Vosler: Swats another homer

Vosler went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Marlins.

Vosler has homered in back-to-back games for the second time this year, which accounts for all four of his long balls. With Evan Longoria still dealing with lingering shoulder soreness, Vosler will make a fifth straight start at third base in Sunday's road trip finale in Miami. He's posted a .298/.370/.596 slash line with eight RBI, eight runs scored and a pair of doubles through 54 plate appearances this year.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Exits with shoulder injury

Candelario left Sunday's game against the Yankees with a left shoulder injury.

The team didn't offer any further details about the severity of the injury. Candelario dove to try to make a play on a line drive early in the game and was replaced by Harold Castro. The Tigers have an off day Monday.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Phillies' Nick Maton: To IL with shoulder sprain

Maton was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a right shoulder sprain.

Maton had been up for just a couple days and went 3-for-6 with a triple and a home run before suffering the injury. Didi Gregorius was activated in a corresponding move.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Mashes 14th homer

Ramirez went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Orioles.

He gave the Guardians an early lead by taking Tyler Wells deep in the first inning. Ramirez has been raking since mid-May, and over his last 16 games he's slashing .310/.420/.810 with seven of his 14 homers on the season and four of his seven steals, along with 14 runs and 21 RBI.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Riding pine Sunday

Moncada is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rays.

Moncada is hitting .088 with zero home runs and zero steals over his last 10 games. Jake Burger will start at third base and hit fifth.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Twins' Gio Urshela: Back in action Sunday

Urshela (foot) is starting at third base and hitting cleanup Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Even with right-hander Kevin Gausman on the hill, Urshela slots back into the cleanup spot after missing a brief period with a mid-arch foot sprain. He is hitting .324 with two home runs over his last 10 games.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Back in action Sunday

Walls (calf) is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Sunday against the White Sox.

He was sidelined for a few days after fouling a ball off his calf. Walls, Vidal Brujan and Isaac Paredes are in a three-way split of the middle infield duties while Wander Franco and Brandon Lowe are on the injured list.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

    Reds' Mike Moustakas: Sitting Sunday

Moustakas is not in Sunday's lineup against the Nationals.

Moustakas gets occasional off days against lefties, and that will be the case in this one with Patrick Corbin on the hill for Washington. Tommy Pham slots in at designated hitter while Albert Almora and Aristides Aquino patrol the outfield corners.
