Oswaldo Cabrera LF | NYY
Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Homers in Game 1 of doubleheader
Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday in the first game of a twin bill versus the Angels.
Cabrera belted New York's only homer in the doubleheader, smashing a solo shot to right field in the second inning of Game 1. He got the start at second base in that contest but returned to the bench and didn't see a plate appearance in the second game. Cabrera has seen his playing time shrink since the Yankees acquired Jazz Chisholm to play third base at the trade deadline -- Wednesday marked Cabrera's first start at any position across the team's past seven contests.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Productive in doubleheader
Ramirez went 2-for-7 with a walk, a solo home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base over both games of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Diamondbacks.
Ramirez logged his 25th steal of the campaign in the first game, then followed it up with his 30th homer of the year in the second contest. The third baseman has reached the 30-homer mark for the third time in his career, having previously done it in 2018 and 2021. He's gone 16-for-40 (.400) with six homers over his last 11 contests, and he's slashing .282/.335/.548 with 96 RBI and 85 runs scored across 111 games this year.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Drives in three in loss
Riley went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an RBI double, a walk and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 8-5 loss to Milwaukee.
Riley has gone 15-for-40 (.375) with three homers and 10 RBI over his last 10 games. He twice gave Atlanta the lead Wednesday, but Milwaukee was able to offer a response each time. For the season, Riley is up to a .264/.331/.467 slash line with 16 homers, 50 RBI, 56 runs scored, 25 doubles and no stolen bases over 99 games.

Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Productive in win
Ortiz went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one walk, two RBI and one run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Atlanta.
This was Ortiz's second multi-hit effort in a row after he went a mere 7-for-50 (.140) over his first 14 games of the second half. The infielder also logged multiple RBI in a game for the first time since June 15. Despite his struggles at the plate, Ortiz has maintained steady playing time at third base. He's now at a .253/.353/.404 slash line with seven home runs, six stolen bases, 35 RBI, 39 runs scored, 16 doubles and three triples over 93 contests this year.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Rehab assignment approaching
Muncy (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Oklahoma City over the weekend, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Muncy will spend at least a week in Triple-A before returning to the Dodgers, putting his earliest possible return date sometime in mid-August. The slugging third baseman has been on the injured list since May 17 with a right oblique strain and only recently began making strides in his recovery after a chiropractor visit last week.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Idle for nightcap
Rendon isn't in the Angels' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.
Rendon went 2-for-3 with a walk during Game 1, and he'll now take a seat on the bench to conclude Wednesday's activities. Charles Leblanc will take over at the hot corner and bat eighth while Rendon rests.

Paul DeJong SS | NYY
Royals' Paul DeJong: Sitting in third straight game
DeJong is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
DeJong will take a seat for the third game in a row, including a second straight matchup versus a right-hander (Kutter Crawford). Though he's produced a home run and two walks in his four starts since joining the Royals a week ago, DeJong looks like he'll have to settle for more of a part-time role in Kansas City while he's part of a much more talented infield than the one he occupied in Chicago earlier in the season.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Mariners' Josh Rojas: Sitting versus lefty
Rojas isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Wednesday's game against Detroit, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Southpaw Tarik Skubal will toe the slab for the Tigers, which will send the lefty-hitting Rojas to the bench to begin Wednesday's contest. Dylan Moore will slide over to third base as a result, allowing Leo Rivas to pick up a start at shortstop.

Ildemaro Vargas 3B | ARI
Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Gaining playing time in infield
Vargas will start at second base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Though he'll be filling in for a resting Luis Garcia on Wednesday, the switch-hitting Vargas may be in store for at least semi-regular playing time at third base against right-handed pitching in place of Trey Lipscomb, who has produced a .393 OPS since rejoining the big club in early July. Vargas had started over Lipscomb in both of the first two contests of the series, but the Nationals will have room for both players in the infield Wednesday while Garcia rests.
