The Giants reinstated Rodriguez (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Elbow inflammation has kept Rodriguez on the injured list since mid-August, but he'll return in time to add depth to San Francisco's bullpen for the final series of the season. Prior to his injury, the 25-year-old rookie put up a 3.93 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 50.1 innings in the bigs, and he'll most likely work in middle relief now that he's healthy again. Mason Black was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Brasier will start Friday's game against the Rockies, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The Dodgers will be relying on their bullpen to get them through Friday's contest at Coors Field, and they'll entrust Brasier with at least the first three batters as the opener. The 37-year-old owns a 3.33 ERA and 0.93 WHIP through 27 frames on the year, though his outing Friday will almost certainly be brief, as only two of his 28 appearances have lasted more than one inning.

Cousins (pectoral) played catch Friday, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

It's the first time Cousins has done any throwing since he landed on the 15-day injured list with a right pectoral strain nearly a week ago. The hope is that he can be ready to pitch for the Yankees at some point during the playoffs.

The Twins reinstated Funderburk (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Funderburk hasn't pitched for the Twins since July 12 after being diagnosed with a strained left oblique. He'll return to the active roster ahead of the team's final series of the regular season. Funderburk allowed eight runs in 5.1 innings during his rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul, though six of those runs came in one appearance. Jair Camargo was optioned to St. Paul in a corresponding move.

The Marlins activated Baumann from the paternity list Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Baumann missed the series against the Twins earlier this week while welcoming a new addition to the family, but he will be back in the bullpen for the Marlins' final games of the season in Toronto. He has allowed 10 runs with a 17:4 K:BB over 12.1 innings during his time with Miami.

The Marlins placed Cronin on the 15-day injured list Friday with left knee tendinitis, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cronin dealt with an undisclosed injury a few weeks ago, but it's unclear whether that was related to his current issue. The reliever's season will end with him having posted a 4.35 ERA and 72:25 K:BB over 70.1 innings covering 56 appearances.

Hanifee will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher in Friday's game versus the White Sox.

It's the third opener assignment this season for Hanifee, who went a combined 2.2 scoreless innings the first two times. Casey Mize is one candidate for bulk relief Friday, but the Tigers have not divulged their plans.

Brieske (4-4) tossed two perfect innings of relief to earn the win Thursday against the Rays.

Brieske didn't strike anyone out, but he was still efficient and helped Detroit pick up a come-from-behind, 4-3 victory. The righty just earned his first save of the season Tuesday, and he followed that up with a critical win as the Tigers narrow in on a playoff spot. If Detroit does ultimately advance to the postseason, Brieske figures to have a high-leverage and versatile role out of the bullpen. He has a 3.56 ERA and 68 strikeouts across 65.2 innings this year.

Tinoco was charged with a blown save in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Twins, allowing one run on three hits and one walk over 1.2 innings while striking out one.

Tinoco took over for Anthony Bender with one out and a man on first in the bottom of the eighth and coughed up back-to-back hits to allow two runners to come home, tying the game at 4-4. He was then able to get through the frame without sustaining any further damage before pitching a scoreless ninth. It marked the right-hander's first blown save this season after converting his previous three opportunities this month. It also marked the second time in his last five appearances that he allowed three hits and at least one run. On a positive note, Tinoco has recorded at least one strikeout in three straight outings.

Fernandez (1-6) allowed four runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two over one inning to take the loss Thursday versus the Rockies.

He didn't give up a home run, but the Rockies were able to connect for some loud contact against Fernandez in the eighth inning as they erased a three-run deficit. Prior to this appearance, Fernandez had allowed just one run over his last 11.2 innings despite allowing 10 hits and six walks in that span. The right-hander has pitched to a 3.51 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 71:32 K:BB with two saves, three blown saves and 12 holds over 66.2 innings this season as a 26-year-old rookie.
