  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

White Sox's Jose Quintana: Starting Tuesday after rainout

Quintana will start Tuesday after Monday's home opener against the Tigers was rained out, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.

A little bit housekeeping here. If you had Quintana in your lineup Monday, roll it over for Tuesday.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Allows just two runs en route to no-decision

Gausman allowed two runs on five hits and four walks across 5.1 innings Monday against the Blue Jays. He struck out four en route to a no-decision.

Gausman was erratic at times, throwing just 55 percent of his pitches for strikes, but he did not allow an extra-base hit, which helped mitigate the effect of the free passes he issued. Walks were not a significant issue for Gausman in 2016, as he posted a 2.4 BB/9, and some of his struggles can be attributed to early-season jitters. He can take some positives from this outing into Sunday's matchup with the Yankees.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Likely out until mid-May

White Sox GM Rick Hahn said Monday that Rodon (biceps) could be back with the team in five-to-six weeks if he endures no setbacks during the recovery process, Scott Gregor of the Daily Herald reports.

The White Sox have ruled out any structural damage to Rodon's left biceps after he experienced tendinitis a little more than a week ago, but the team still plans to proceed cautiously with his recovery. Rodon has already resumed throwing at extended spring training in Arizona and is scheduled to be reevaluated April 10, at which point the White Sox may loosen the reins a bit and let him begin throwing off a mound. While the White Sox wait for the young southpaw to work his way back from the injury, they'll aim to get by with Dylan Covey as their fifth starter.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Set to pitch Tuesday at Double-A

Miley (illness) is slated to throw a simulated game Tuesday at Double-A Bowie and is expected to start for the Orioles on April 9 versus the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.

Miley was officially placed on the DL on Tuesday, and he'll head to Double-A in an effort to get his pitch count up. The left-hander had been battling an illness as well as a shoulder issue, but all indications are that he's recovered. Expect Miley, whose DL placement was backdated to March 30, to make his season debut Sunday.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Placed on 10-day DL

Heaney was placed on the 10-day DL on Sunday.

This was strictly procedural, as Heaney is slated to miss the entire 2017 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last summer. He will be transferred to the 60-day DL at some point when the team needs to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.

  • Tigers' Justin Verlander: Looking for Opening Day win

Verlander is making his ninth Opening Day start for the Tigers on Monday, but his career record in openers is just 1-1, Brendan Savage of MLive.com reports.

Verlander's career Opening Day ERA is 4.73. Last year, he recorded a quality start by going six innings and allowing three earned runs to the Marlins, but Francisco Rodriguez blew the save. Regardless of how Verlander performs Monday, he should rack up plenty of wins and serve as an elite fantasy starter in 2017.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Opens as No. 3 starter

Perez will open the season as the No. 3 starter for the Rangers, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Perez had a short spring due to competing with Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic but finished exhibition play with three earned runs and seven strikeouts over 9.2 innings. The 25-year-old started 33 games for the Rangers in 2016, and although he ate up 198.2 innings, he posted a 4.39 ERA and surrendered 18 long balls. The left-hander sports a low-90s fastball to go along with a slider, curveball and changeup, but his success largely depends on his ability to induce groundballs, which he's done at a rate of 52 percent or better in his last three MLB seasons.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Rangers' Cole Hamels: Six scoreless in final spring start

Hamels needed just 69 pitches to get through six scoreless innings in his final exhibition matchup Friday against the Royals.

Hamels surrendered two hits on the evening but also struck out four batters in the contest. The left-hander had a bit of a rocky start to his spring, but what matters is that he finished strong, surrendering just one earned run over his final 11 frames. Hamels will begin his age-33 season with an April 5 start against Cleveland.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Lands on 10-day DL

Rodon (biceps) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday, CSN Chicago's Dan Hayes reports.

The transaction doesn't come as a surprise after Rodon experienced biceps tightness a little over a week ago that forced him to miss his final two starts of spring training. The left-hander has already started a throwing program and is scheduled to be reevaluated April 10, at which point the White Sox will determine whether he'll require a rehab assignment. The White Sox will likely try to get by with four starters when the schedule allows for it, but Dylan Covey will serve as the No. 5 rotation option for the time being until Rodon is activated.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Opens season on DL

Miley (shoulder/illness) has been placed on the 10-day DL retroactive to March 30.

Miley was hit on the shoulder with a comebacker earlier in the spring, but the official reason the Orioles are giving for his placement on the DL is an "upper-respiratory infection." He'll get the week to recover, and based on his retroactive placement date, the lefty could appear in the rotation as early as April 9.
