  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Goes deep again Friday

Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 12-4 win over the Mets.

Not known as a power hitter, Hoerner has now gone deep in consecutive games, and he has three home runs this season already. The speedy infielder's career high in long balls is 10, and he only had seven of them last year, so the power surge is a bit unexpected. Hoerner is also currently third in the National League with a .342 batting average, making it an outstanding start overall for the 28-year-old.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: On base three times Friday

Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's 12-4 loss to the Cubs.

While most of the Mets' roster has struggled during a nine-game losing streak, Alvarez has been able to keep his head above water. The 24-year-old backstop is slashing .294/.410/.549 through 18 games this season with four homers, five RBI, eight runs and a strong 8:11 BB:K, and his RBI opportunities should pick up as the lineup around him shakes out of its funk.

  • Kodai Senga SP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Another rough performance

Senga (0-3) took the loss Friday, coughing up seven runs (six earned) on six hits and three walks over 3.1 innings as the Mets fell 12-4 to the Cubs. He struck out three.

The wind was blowing out to left field at Wrigley Field, contributing to a three-run homer by Moises Ballesteros in the first inning and a two-run shot by Nico Hoerner in the second, but Senga also struggled to find the strike zone and tossed just 38 of 65 pitches for strikes before getting the hook. The right-hander appeared to be headed for a bounce-back campaign after a strong spring and a 16:5 K:BB through 11.2 innings in his first two starts of 2026, but in two outings since then Senga's been hammered for 14 runs (13 earned) in 5.2 frames while serving up four homers and managing a 6:5 K:BB. He's far from the only Met struggling right now -- Friday's loss was New York's ninth straight -- but Senga may need to turn things around quickly to keep his spot in the rotation. He'll try to regain his form in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next week against the Twins.

  • Rob Refsnyder LF | SEA

Mariners' Rob Refsnyder: Back from paternity leave

The Mariners reinstated Refsnyder from the paternity list Friday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

After spending three days away from the team to welcome a new addition to his family, Refsnyder will return to the Mariners and resume working as bench depth. The 35-year-old has yet to record his first base hit through 16 at-bats this season.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Mariners' Patrick Wisdom: Lands on IL with oblique injury

The Mariners placed Wisdom on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a left oblique strain, retroactive to Wednesday.

Wisdom may have picked up the injury during his last outing Tuesday against the Padres, when he struck out in his lone plate appearance. Wisdom is eligible to be activated from the IL in late April, though oblique injuries tend to carry a longer recovery timeline. Rob Refsnyder (personal) was activated from the Mariners' paternity list in a corresponding move.

  • Bryce Miller SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryce Miller: Beginning rehab assignment Saturday

Miller (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

General manager Justin Hollander said Miller will likely need the full 30 days to build his arm up, according to Kramer. The plan for Saturday is for Miller to throw two innings or 30 pitches. The right-hander missed almost the entirety of spring training and has been throwing for the last couple weeks. It sounds like he could rejoin the Mariners later next month.

  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

    Rays' Edwin Uceta: Suffers setback

Manager Kevin Cash said Friday that Uceta has soreness in the back of his right shoulder following his latest rehab appearance at Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Uceta was roughed up a bit during his outing Wednesday, allowing two earned runs on five hits over 1.1 innings. The Rays will now shut him down for a few days before re-evaluating him, at which point an updated timeline for his return may emerge.

  • Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW

White Sox's Tyler Gilbert: Back to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Gilbert to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Gilbert was recalled by the White Sox ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rays, during which he allowed four runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two batters across 1.2 innings. He'll return to Triple-A while the White Sox promote Doug Nikhazy in a corresponding move.

  • Doug Nikhazy P | CHC

White Sox's Doug Nikhazy: Recalled Friday

The White Sox recalled Nikhazy from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

The 26-year-old southpaw's last minor-league appearance was Tuesday against Jacksonville, when he allowed three hits and two walks while striking out four across four scoreless frames. Bikhazy has started in his two outings in Triple-A this season, but he'll likely serve out of the White Sox's bullpen in a long-relief role. Tyler Gilbert was optioned to Charlotte in a corresponding move.

  • Padres' Miguel Andujar: Back to bench Friday

Andujar is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Andujar will not make the start against right-hander Jose Soriano, as Ty France is getting the nod at first base, with Nick Castellanos at designated hitter. Andujar has been out of the lineup four of the last five games for the Padres.
