Manager Blake Butera said Tuesday that Wood (oblique) is not expected to be activated from the injured list when eligible later this week, Danielle Allentuck of The Washington Post reports.

Wood has progressed to fielding drills and throwing from 45 feet, and he's expected to take dry swings with the bat Tuesday. He suffered a strained left oblique Aug. 3 and has missed the Nationals' past six contests. Dylan Crews has been handling right field in Wood's absence.

Meidroth (wrist) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.

Meidroth will sit out his second consecutive game as he tends to discomfort in his left wrist. Sam Antonacci will move over to second base again and bat eighth for the White Sox in their series opener against Cincinnati.

The Reds optioned McCambley to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

McCambley appeared in three games, allowing one earned run over three innings with the big-league club before being sent back to Triple-A on Tuesday. The right-hander has spent most of his time this year in Triple-A with both Louisville and Jacksonville (Miami's Triple-A affiliate), registering a 4-1 record, 2.57 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 60:23 K:BB in 49 innings. With Nick Lodolo (finger) returning from the IL, Cincinnati needed to clear a roster spot.

The Reds selected Toglia's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Toglia has spent the entire season at Louisville, where he slashed .273/.373/.547 with 22 homers, 65 RBI, 49 runs scored, four stolen bases and a 56:103 BB:K across 402 trips to the plate. The switch-hitting Toglia possesses plus power but owns an inflated 35.0 percent strikeout rate spanning 1,067 big-league plate appearances. He has the ability to play first base and right field and will likely see some at-bats at designated hitter.

Cincinnati reinstated Lodolo (finger) from the 15-day injured list, and he will start Tuesday's matchup against the White Sox.

Lodolo will return from the IL after being sidelined for just under a month of action. The southpaw needed just one rehab start with Triple-A Louisville, which spanned 4.1 innings, before rejoining the big-league club. On the season, the 28-year-old owns a 3-2 record, 4.60 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 50:27 K:BB through 62.2 innings. The Reds optioned Zach McCambley to Louisville in a corresponding move.

The Reds transferred Greene (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

Greene is out for the remainder of the 2026 season and will soon undergo surgery to repair a partially torn UCL in his right elbow, which will keep him on the shelf for most or all of the 2027 campaign. The 27-year-old opened the current season on the IL after requiring a procedure in the spring to remove bone chips from his elbow and ended up making just five starts for the Reds, logging a 6.83 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB across 27.2 innings.

Lukes is out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Boston.

After an 0-for-4 performance during Monday's series opener, Lukes will sit out Tuesday's game. Southpaw Patrick Sandoval is the opposing pitcher for Boston, and Lukes has slashed just .111/.216/.133 in 51 plate appearances against left-handed pitching this season. Brett Bateman will take over in right field and bat second for Toronto.

Perez (orbital) was pulled off his rehab assignment Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that Perez's vision is not yet back to normal after initially suffering an orbital fracture June 16 when an exercise band snapped back and hit Perez in the eye. During his rehab assignment, Perez went 0-for-12 at the plate with a sacrifice fly and six strikeouts. It appears he's looking at an extended absence.

Sanchez is absent from Tuesday's lineup against the Red Sox.

With left-hander Patrick Sandoval on the mound for Boston, Sanchez will ride the pine for the second game of a four-game set. Charles McAdoo will move over to left field and lead off for Toronto.

Vest (elbow) underwent hip surgery Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Vest had already been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season after previously undergoing elbow surgery to address a stress fracture. He's now looking at dual rehabs and is expected to be sidelined for several months. The 31-year-old Vest recorded a 6.08 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 27:10 K:BB across 26.2 innings over 27 appearances this season.
