  • Brewers' Andrew McCutchen: Sitting out for day game

McCutchen is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

He'll be one of three veterans sitting out in Thursday's series finale after starting in Wednesday's 18-4 win. McCutchen, who went 4-for-5 with a double, a walk, four RBI and two runs in the trouncing of Cincinnati, will be replaced at designated hitter by Keston Hiura.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Serving as starting pitcher, DH

Ohtani will start as a pitcher and designated hitter in Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Due to a groin injury suffered in Sunday's 6-5 win over the White Sox while he had served as a DH, Ohtani sat out Monday's series finale against Chicago. He's been back in action as a DH for the Angels' past two games against the Athletics, however, going 1-for-7 with two walks and a run between those contests. The groin injury prompted the Angels to push Ohtani back a day in the pitching schedule, but he'll still end up making a start on the mound in Boston as originally planned.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rangers' Brad Miller: Delivers clutch hit

Miller started at third base and went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBI in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning win over Philadelphia.

Miller delivered a two-out, two-run single in the top of the 10th inning, giving Texas the runs it needed for a fourth straight win. He's been locked in an extended slump, which recently cost him at-bats in left field to Zach Reks, but the 32-year-old, multi-positional player got the start at third base in place of Andy Ibanez on Wednesday. While the game-winning knock was nice, it was just Miller's seventh base hit over his last 47 at-bats (.149).

  • Brewers' Andrew McCutchen: Four hits, four RBI in win

McCutchen went 4-for-5 with a double, four RBI and two runs in the 18-4 win over the Reds on Wednesday.

Breaking a three-game hitless streak in a big way, McCutchen ripped an RBI single off Vladimir Gutierrez in the bottom of the first inning before adding another single in the third frame and coming around to score on a Rowdy Tellez grand slam. The 35-year-old later walked and scored on Tellez's second long ball of the contest in the sixth and doubled in two runs in the seventh. He notched his fourth hit on an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring Lorenzo Cain and reaching four RBI on the day. McCutchen has operated as the Brewers' primary designated hitter in 2022, producing a .242 batting average with two homers and 14 RBI over 95 at-bats in 24 games.

  • Astros' Michael Brantley: Drives in two

Brantley went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Wednesday against the Mariners.

Brantley singled in his pair of runs in the second inning to put the Astros up 3-0. Two frames later, he hit his fourth double of the season, which was also his first extra-base hit since April 24. Brantley is hitting .282/.330/.400 across his 92 plate appearances this season, though he has only two home runs, eight runs scored and nine RBI.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

    Giants' Joc Pederson: Rejoins lineup

Pederson (groin) is starting in right field and batting leadoff Wednesday against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Pederson appeared as a pinch hitter Tuesday, which was his first game action since April 27, and he will rejoin the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale. The 30-year-old ended up sitting out four games with a strained right groin but was able to avoid a stint on the injured list.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

Blue Jays' Zack Collins: Out of lineup against lefty

Collins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Southpaw Nestor Cortes is on the hill for the Yankees, so the lefty-hitting Collins will unsurprisingly bow out of the starting nine. George Springer will get a turn as the Blue Jays' designated hitter in place of Collins.

  • Nick Solak DH | SD

Rangers' Nick Solak: Sits against right-hander

Solak isn't starting Wednesday against Philadelphia.

Most of Solak's starts this season have come against left-handed pitchers, and he'll retreat to the bench against righty Zack Wheeler on Wednesday. Andy Ibanez will serve as the designated hitter while Zach Reks enters the lineup in left field.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Buxton isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Buxton will get a breather after he went 5-for-14 with a home run, a double, four runs and two RBI over the last three games. Gilberto Celestino will start in center field and bat ninth.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Belts fifth homer

Stanton went 1-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Blue Jays.

He wrapped up the scoring on the night with a ninth-inning blast off Andrew Vasquez. Stanton has hit safely in eight straight games, and while he's somewhat taken a back seat to the red-hot Aaron Judge, he's still slashing .387./444./677 during that stretch with three of his five homers on the year and eight of his 16 RBI.
